Rear drum setup...is this correct?

Ive just redone the rear brakes on my 72 c20, new wheel cylinders, shoes, and drums and i can feel the truck pulsing slightly as i slow down (not the pedal), and the right rear locks up while driving normaly. I put them back together exactly as they came off, but im not sure they were ever installed right in the first place since they never really worked. Every piece of the braking system on this truck is brand new except the proportioning valve and a few of the lines. Ive bled all four corners numerous times and spun the adjusters in and out, but nothings worked yet....I took a couple pics for you guys to see if ive set these up correctly...pics are of the left side

looks good to me but the correct way to set the rear brakes is to back up at a quick pace and then jump on the brakes, that cause the adjusters to set at the correct spot. do that a couple times and see if that helps.

in the bottom pic the self adjuster arm looks to be installed incorrectly there should be an arm that extends over the star wheel to adjust the brake it should be located midway thru the star wheel looking at it straight on and that little spring on the adjusting lever should be fully compressed

looks like its all there to me gotta remember its a C20 (so thats a 3/4 ton ??) which looks to be different from your 1/2 ton pics (your pics look like every 1/2 ton ive ever did brakes on))

I don't know why it is locking up, other than misadjustment side to side, but the cause for the adjuster being out of place could be a missing spring cup under the hold down on the adjuster side (see red arrow). This spring cup holds the spring, plus it goes through both pieces to provide a pivot point. If it is missing, and just the nail is used by itself, that might cause the alignment problem.

Green Machine.....I am actually missing the that back spring cup. That was the only piece that was missing, I figured i could get away with it ......i will pick up a new hardware kit and see if that helps. Thanks for the help guys

doesn't matter 1/2 ton 3/4 ton or whatever the adjusting lever must be in the same relitive position for proper operation of the adjusters// all the parts maybe there but they're not installed for proper operation of the brake system

Just a thought on this.....I had a similar problem with my 68 Chevelle.....I had replaced everything and was having the same problem with the back brakes not releasing......in the end the "new" master cylinder was bad out of the box....replaced it and all was well.......worth a shot if all else fails......
