K5 body parts

This is probably already posted somewhere, but...I have read in a couple parts listings that the Blazer tailgate is the same as the truck tailgate with the exception of the top lip that is screwed to the blazer. Is that true? Also, has anyone converted a truck door to a blazer door?

Thanks

My doors have been done, I didn't do them, the Factory assembly
manual gives you measurements to do it, or so I am told it does

Re: K5 body parts

I just did the door conversion and it was not hard at all. I used my old blazer doors for comparison. I was very happy with the results.

The factory manual does. I have it book marked in my manual.

Re: K5 body parts

I believe the Blazer doors were truck doors that were converted at the factory. In addition to the top window frame cut---they were also strengthened at the latch area with a plate, a brass shim above the plate and some believe they were the first to have the screw below the vent window for strength. I have also seen more welding at the front where the window frame attaches to the door. So if you can find a nice solid truck door, you can convert it to a blazer door with little effort.

Re: K5 body parts

I would REALLY like to do this conversion. Does someone have a link up to the page in the manual that shows this? I'm in Texas and there are good truck doors laying around in everyone's backyard...not many Blazers though.
