Freshly painted Cab

See if this works. If it does it is a picture of my cab with the basecoat on. It is Intense Blue. It is in the paint booth in my garage so it looks a lot darker than it will.http://www.imagestation.com/mypictur...on=cabpainted2

Man, you did a great job laying down that base. Local paint guru here says if you can shoot a smooth coat of metallic/pearl - you da man!
Wish you would have been here to paint mine.
Show off (kidding)
Now get that clear on there pretty soon. You'll notice a little more "mist" in the air when you do that.
Congrats!

I painted the clear about half an hour after the basecoat. Man that stuff get is sticky. I have a lot of color sanding to do . It will look good when I get it done though. It needs to be done in a week and put back to gether for school. I get to drive for 18 hours to school. If I don't get it done, I have to drive in my mom's Honda Odyessy. That would stink! Thanks for the complements. I will post picks of it when I get it all put back together.

How many coats of base and how many of clear?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Brands of paint/clear/reducer would also be a cool thing to hear about.
Bet it shines!

Here is a long post. The paint is ppg. The basecoat is Deltron 2000 DBC. The color is Intense Blue. The clearcoat we put over it is ppg DCU2021. You can look up the info on the web. We did two coats of the basecoat and two clears. We are going to wet sand the cab and then spray two more clears. Then color sand it. Alot of work, but hopefully it will look really good when we are done. I hope to have this done by next week so if that happens I will post some finished pictures. Here's some more pictures. Thanks

The primer was ppg also. It was k36. My dad was the one who knows all about it. Before that we put down some epoxy primer.

This is the paint booth my dad and I made in our shop. It takes up two car spaces and gives us just enough room to get around with the cab, 2doors and a core support. It is just metal posts and plastic taped to it. We hooked it up to a fan and put some filters on both ends to circulate the air. It works pretty good.

I decided to fill the ignition and cigarette lighter holes because the ignition hole was jacked up. It looked like some one tried to remove the bezel with a screw driver . I tried to fix it but I am not Efabman! But hey at least I didn't cut that part of my dash right? Hey 406chevy you may actually of heard of the school I am going to. It is LeTournaeu University. I am going to be studying Mechanical Engineering. Thats all for now.
