Is the altenator bracket mounting bolt a special bolt (350V8)?

With the stock factory setup on a 307/350 V8's, the altenator main mounting hole is 1/2" diameter and the bolt is 3/8" that screws into the head.

Is there a 3/8" bolt with a 1/2" shoulder that you are suppose to use? A collor that you slap on a 3/8" bolt? None?

I don't get it. A 1/2" hole in the bracket for a 3/8" bolt into the head.

What do others have installed for this??

Thanks,
-Roger

You just jogged my memory.

The old original stock engine had at least a 1/2" hole egged out that the previous owner botched and I re-tapped it for the altenator bracket.

I just recently pulled that stock engine out and put in a GM crate 350 plain-jane engine and that is the one that has the 3/8" bolt for the altenator in the head.

Ugh.

Thanks. That answers it.
