Old truck new bed???

well i just bought a brand spank'n new 1991 chevy bed with 2 (two) small dents. he totaled the entire truck, yet the bed was untouched. everything is still perfectally square. got it for 200 bucks!!!

i've seen an step side /w/ a 2000 or so bed on it and it looked awesome, i've done alot of research and chevy kept the same bodie lines exactally identical until aprox 2003 or so.

ne one else done this????

Not so, for starters the fenderwell opening don't match at all, if you want a newer bed why not get a newer truck? IMO and that's just my opinion and not tring to be rude, so please excuse me if I sound like it but newer beds do not belong mixed with classic iron

excuse me, and thank you. and for the record, no, the fender wells arent exactally in the same spot, the 91's are 99 inches long or so, and mine in 102-103.

personal opinion is fine, every on likes and hates something. 200 buck is buku better than 1500 for replacement.

Re: Old truck new bed???

now i never have seen a new fleet side if that is what your talking about but i have seen manny 88 to 99 side steps on these years and they look good but you can tell that they are too new. However the lower door line and the steps fit perfect. never seen a 88 to 99 fleetside bed on this year if that is what ur talking about doing

and to rest my case I only need to ask one more question, are we talking about a stepside or a fleetside bed?

Sometimes newer beds look just fine on old iron, it's all in what you like!

Re: Old truck new bed???

That's not a good example of lookin good with a new bed on an old body.
misterman... you indicate that a nice bed in cali is 1500 bucks????
Those 88 - 98 trucks are beautifull rigs. They are the only good looking ones since 72 IMO. However, mixing one good with another good...makes something bad. The lines DON'T line up as well as you think...stufdy the photos, look at how high the bed is jacked up, look at how the gay lookin steps are actually wider than the cab, then the obviouse fenderwells... and if we are talkin fleetside bed...then it isn't even close to matching up at all.
Peanut bettuer is awsome... I love the stuff
And I LOVE a bigh thick t-bone....

Re: Old truck new bed???

well on the stepside beds the bottomline matches fairly good but it looks stupid to me due to the more square wheel wells compared to the rounded from a 67-72 and that is unexcusable

Very well put and the white truck was the worst example to use to prove a case on newer beds

Re: Old truck new bed???

I must say that duelly does not look as bad as teh step side combos. And for $200 if you like it and it gets you on the road than that is great. As soon as a good looking 67-72 fleet side comes along in your price range pick it up and re-post

You need to keep in mind that while most of us are not stock purest when it comes to these trucks we all love them because GM hit the nail on th ehead with this style. And while fat chicks and mopeds are fun to ride that does not mean you should tell your friends that you did it...

old truck and new bed looks reminds me of a 75 year old woman in a mini-skirt.

old + new = just don't look right.

No offense, just my opinion.

I agree. I don't really like newer beds on 67-72's. Two great things don't go together in that case. PB and Jelly are good, and go together. T-Bone's and PB don't. Old trucks and newer frames go together sometimes, old trucks and new beds don't. Sure, it can work mechanicly. But not visually. Wheelwell arches don't line up, body lines kinda match up, other things don't. That dually is probably one of the very few that work together, otherwise the new beds contrast the old styling, and barely match, and not very well at that.

My opinion, not meaning offence. But I think a poll would be great for this though.

Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done. With that said, If you think it looks good, its your truck, do what you want, F everyone else, just don't be like those guys with the crapped out Hondas that complain because other people think their car looks like sh!t.

Re: Old truck new bed???

I liked that duelly and was tempted to buy it, but he was asing WAY too much for it.

I agree with the other, the lines don't match up as well as I used to think. They don't look that bad, but not great either.

I would think you could find a straight enough bed for $400 or so with some work left.

To me they look like an MC Escher painting, like an optical illusion. They're kind of confusing to look at, your brain can't figure out if it's old or new.

Please don't ever use that example again. Now I have some very ugly mental pictures stuck in my head....

ACTUALLY on 1500 trucks it was 98. The burbs, tahoes, 2500 and 3500 carried over to 99
