I need some parts for my 72 Chevy Truck Can You Help?

I am looking for a decent (tight/functional, no rust good paint, etc..) factory truck tilt (not van converted to truck or van), a factory AM/FM radio that is guaranteed to work with a functional AM/FM string and a decent face plate, and a factory Truck Air Cleaner preferably with the pre-heat tube and the associated manifold component. If you can help me out with any or all of these parts, let me know what ou have and how much you want for what you have. Pictures would also be great and can be sent to kna4977@hotmail.com.

thanks

Try searching the new classified area or posting a WTB there. You'll probably get better results.

Thanks for your reply. I did that first, but with all the ads I have posted so far there hasn't been a lot of action. If you or anyone else has any tips on how to increase replys, please let me know. thanks

I have seen van tilts, van tilts that have already been converted and factory truck tilts in the classifieds, just keep looking.

Here was my Dad's take on it (long time Hot Rod Builder) and I found it to be true, especially in Tennessee and the surrounding states (I'm sure it is like this elsewhere as well). The farmers that had bought the trucks (a truck was used as a truck) would lean alot on the steering wheels causing them to wear out quickly. My Dad used to toss them and do the van conversions because they were cheaper than rebuilding the truck tilt (this was years ago). When my Brother and I got our trucks we told him to keep an eye out for some tilts. Every truck tilt he came accross was just too wore out and super sloppy, so we went with van tilts and converted them.

With the price that factory truck tilts are going for you could toss in a bit more and just pick up an brand new Ididit or Flaming River Tilt. Unless you are restoring it to exact factory specs, a van tilt is basically the same thing just different lengnth and mounting. I did my van tilt in my truck and unless you are a hardcore truck guy you cannot tell by looking at it and if you were, you'd have to look under the dash and on top of the column to even tell.

Just saying, is it really worth $400+ for a nice truck tilt or $150 for a nice van tilt or $500 for an Ididit tilt? My Brother paid $125 for his and mine was $118 shipped.

My $.02, nothing more (can't afford it)

P.S. This really needs to be in the Classifieds Section

Mike

Re: I need some parts for my 72 Chevy Truck Can You Help?

I recommend you take another look at the "good" converted van tilts to truck specs...not the homemade ones.
The ones I have are exactly like the truck: length, N swth location, and lots of new fresh parts like bearing, wiring, chrome pieces, etc.
I don't think anyone can look anywhere and tell the difference. They are nice and look correct.
Why is there all the insistance for original truck tilt only???

You may also want to check out the auto fair in Charlotte since that will be here in a couple of weeks. http://www.charlotte-autofair.com

Definately going to the auto-fair in Charlotte. If anyone is going and has what I'm looking for, please let me know so we can arrange a time and place to meet as well as cost.

If the Converted Van tilt looked as nice as the one in the picture, I would purchase it if the price was right.

Re: I need some parts for my 72 Chevy Truck Can You Help?

I have a truck with a factory tilt that came in it.I have a 4spd truck with a 4spd tilt I paid alot for(rebuilt, yet way less than it could have been)that didn`t come with one. There were no 4spd van tilts. But,I also have van tilts to put in my trucks.I figure, what`s the big deal with having a "correct" truck tilt if it`s not "correct" for that particular truck?I mean,if it`s an added factory option then all that matters is that it "looks" factory if you`re going that route.

Here's a truck tilt (not a van unit) on e-bay, has 22 hrs left, and it is over 300 bucks already.

Happy bidding.
