She is a 64 c10 that has been within 50 miles of here all her life. First bought in 64 for farm use driven untill 73 when new 350 crate was put in, driven 300 miles and put in barn. Next owner drove another 300 miles and did same to her. Next owner started restore, but wife said she wanted house. I bought next and have been driving her almost every day, while working on her, will have more pics soon

Yeah, what he said. & I've had mine for 12 years and I ain't gettin' rid of her 'till they pry my cold dead fingers off the steering wheel.

How's South Carolina for rust? Your '64 appears to have fared rather well.

We have some trouble with rust, but thios one has spent a lot of time in barns, has a little on cab back lower right corner , other than that I have more than she does.
I have a question : does anyone know what gear ratio for the rear end would help with interstate hwy speeds. This one has a 350 w/ orignal 3-speed on column and a 4:11 rear. She will burn tires off in second but sounds like it needs 2-more shifts at 65-70.

Re: Old newbee

I would try a 700R4 and try to find a 3.36 rear axle. Should be about ideal. I think (?) that is the standard ratio.

3:73 I think is what everybody's running "standard". I'd definately go with the 700R4 if you can find a stock auto column for the '64. If not then go with a floor shift kit. (personally I like to keep it looking as stock as possible and hide the modern amenities.)

Here's a chart I found that tells you what RPM's you could expect at 65mph.

The article explaining this chart can be found at:Gear Ratio Chart
