Man, that looks smart! What kind of coating did you use and where did you get it? I sure like that! When you order it can they match your body color?

That coating is called color hippo. http://www.dominionsureseal.com/prod...d=216&catid=35. This is their site. Mine was tinted with the same shade of light gold metalic that the body will be painted with. My buddy did the spraying, he has done a lot of them, but said from now on he was using metalflake paint like mine because it gives a better look.

Wood was bought locally by previous owner. It took 2 of us over 12 hrs to install, next time will get from someone who knows what they are doing. Had to make all kind of adjustments. Wood is red oak with 3 coats of minwax spar urethane, meant for outside work.

Thanks pops! I drilled down their web site to the distributers and found that the paint store that will be mixing the paint for my truck is listed as a Dominion dealer. I'll just have them match the body color.

I don't think I'll go with red oak though, I'm not too sure about that stuff in the weather - especially when I scratch the varnish hauling stuff to the dump. I'll go with the stock OEM yellow pine. Although it's not near as pretty as that red oak you've got, yellow pine is hard as nails and it stays put once it's been cured. That's what they used to make scaffold boards out of. I used it to make sparring swords out of for the kids (and some adult kids too) to play around with at the highland games. Of cource with full padding and helmets - at least when the officials were watching anyway.



I named this one "Saorsa" or "Freedom" I made her out of yellow pine pallet wood about 9 years ago and she's been in quite a few "un-official" battles over the years (it's too sharp & pointy for competition). I figure if I can break an oponent's ash broom stick with this 48oz pointy stick - flailing it around like a blue faced screamin' idiot, it ought to hold up pretty good in the bed of my truck. Don't ask me to swing that thing around nowadays though, I'm a wee bit older and 3 kilt sizes bigger than I was then! Besides, I cut all my hair off.

I used red oak cause that is what the po had already bought, and it came with the truck. He got it from a local saw mill, if I had to do it over, I would have gotten the pine also and from mar-k. Like I said it took 2 of us 12 hrs. to just install the wood. being red oak is why i used that spar urethane, it is meant for outdoor useand holds up a lot longer. The only hauling to be done in that truck will be my big fat a$$. That is why the wife has a dodge van.
