Does anyone know where you can buy the tool that removes the clip holding the window lever on so you can take your door panel off? I've found them on the net, but wanted a local store. Sears, Harbor Freight, etc.
How do you guys get the clip off? Do you use the tool or have you rigged something up?

well last time i had an automoblie with manual windows(wish my truck did ) i used a toool that looked like a small fork. I think i got it from sears. it was great for removing plastic clips too. BTW NICE gmc I wish my 84 was a gmc ....

You should be able to find them at a local auto parts store for under $10.

i just use a screwdriver,carefull you don't send the clip flying...

I took the cheapest, pot metal forged, flat blade screwdriver I had. Tossed about 1/8 inch of it into the vise and bent it about 45º. Works great. Cost nothing and gets some of those hard to reach itchy spots, too.

But, watch for flying clips!!!

I too found mine in the HELP section at Pep Boys. I can't remember the cost, though. I've use it many times. Last weekend, in fact.

I have an old choke cable knob with a short piece of the hard wire on it that has been bent to a short hook, it works quite well fo hooking things like this. I also have a tool that is made to slide across the handle and push the spring off of the shft. Bought it at the local auto parts store, from their help tower display.

Hey thanks for the tips guys. I think I am going to have to try the shirt trick. If that doesn't work I found that Advance Auto Parts carries them.

I bent a chunk of coathanger into as sharp an angle as I could, then cut off most of one side so the thing is just a sharp hook on the end of an 8" wire. Gently pry the door panel back with a screwdriver, hook the back of the clip, and pull. And, as always, watch out for flying clips.
