Help - 1967 C20 carb and wiring questions
I am almost done putting my 67 together. It has been apart for 5 years! I found most of the parts which were scattered all over the garage. I think I know where everythings goes except for two things. Can anyone help? First is a picture of the truck. I know it is dirty but what do expect for not seeing the light of day for all those years? More pictures will come if/when I can wash it. My garage is a mess also. As soon as the truck moves under its own power, I will clean up.
The second and third picture shows a fitting on the base of the carb. It is a 327 with a turbo 400 trans. I think there should be a tube that goes to the distributor for vacuum advance. Is that correct? If so, I think I will just replace the fitting with a nipple. The fourth picture is trying to show a yellow wire which goes from the wiper motor through the firewall under the washer lines. There is a connector on the end which looks like the temp sender connector. I think it goes to the T400 trans but it is about 12 inches to short. Any ideas? If it does not go to the trans where should the trans wire come from? Thanks, Paul |

Re: Help - 1967 C20 carb and wiring questions
Paul,
I might be able to help you out on the trans wire tomorrow. We have had rain the last two days so I will have to move the truck up on the concrete tomorrow and look at it. I have a 327 in my '36 Ford so I will look at it tomorrow to see if it has that fitting and where it goes. LockDoc. |

Re: Help - 1967 C20 carb and wiring questions
ok that fittin in the carb base goes to the vaccum adv. on the dist. That yellow wire on mine goes to a trottle switch, and a red wire from the same switch goes to the trans. If I don't have a pic of it put together but I will include a pic of the switch. I just realized I didn't lable which wire went were.

Thanks for the help. I took off the aftermarket AC so I removed the switch. No wonder I could not find where it fit.

Glad I could help, I like your truck that is an awsome color. I see it is a custom camper don't see many of those.

What Soulman67 said.
My carb is different than yours, my Vac. advance. tube comes off the front of the carb and there is no port in the side and I don't have the yellow wire on my '67...... LockDoc |

Re: Help - 1967 C20 carb and wiring questions
I think the yellow wire is for the turbo 400 trans kickdown. I looked at the switch and one terminal has BAT written by it. I think this is the one for the wire to the cab. The other terminal must go to the trans. I hopefully will get it installed this weekend. May even try to start it!

Re: Help - 1967 C20 carb and wiring questions
well thats like my switch except while looking at I broke off one of the tabs. So now I have to get a new one. I have my 327 tore down, which it wasn't the orginal like I was told. Its a 68 crate engine, I believe it was for a law enforcement use cause it has a hugh cam and all gm performance parts, and the original owner was a game warden.
