???.....exhaust....???
first off i have a 72 custom/10 it has a stock 350sbc with a quadrajet 4barrel the exhaust is stock ramhorns with 26in glasspacks dauls with no crossover and it has a bubbley sound to it while idleing and if i rev it it has a bubbley sound when the rpms go back down but it didnt do this before i rebuilt the carb so im wondering if this is bad or what cause it sounds cool but is it bad or is it just an added sound and also how much better is a crossover for the performance and would it be worth putting one in thanks in advance for any and all advice

Re: ???.....exhaust....???

Re: ???.....exhaust....???
I am not sure what you mean by bubbly sound but normally when it pops on decelleration it is a sign that it is pulling air from somewhere in your exhaust stream and igniting unburned fuel still in your exhaust. Could be a bad donut or hole in your exhaust somewhere. My glasspacks popped bad. I found out that my exhaust donuts were bad...replaced them and no more popping.

Re: ???.....exhaust....???
the glasspacks sit under the cab theres like maybe 2ft of pipe between them and the manifolds and they exit right at the back of the cab and the packs are 26in long and i heard that depending on where you put the cross over you can make it quieter or louder you wouldnt know how that works would you? id hate to make it quieter but i wouldnt mind havin some more lowend torque and matthufham discribed the bubble for me ..haha.. but its not all that loud you can barely hear it but i guess ill check my donuts and the pipes and see if theres any holes thanks alot guys

Re: ???.....exhaust....???
If I had to choose between loud and fast, I'd choose fast.
I'm not exhaust expert but the link below shows some pictures of what I would consider the usual x-pipe set up for a C10. Note that the crossover comes in before the mufflers so I'm not sure how it would work with glasspacks. Space is another issue. Take a look at the pics, you need probably about 4 feet of space to run an X-pipe. http://www.pypesexhaust.com/gallery60.html |

Re: ???.....exhaust....???
id deffinitly choose fast to but when i rebuild my engine im getting new exhaust for it but right now i was just wanting to keep it loud..haha..but thanks for the link old blue, i will probably still put in a cross over just to equalize the 2banks of the engine and i could use the more lowend torque i could get..haha...but thanks again
