rear wheel bearings
just replaced the lug bolts on the rear hub of my 1970 gmc c-30 with dual rear wheels. think it is the 7200# axle. must have moved too many times in the last few years as i cannot find my shop manual and can't seem to remember correct procedure for adjusting the rear wheel bearings. can anyone help me out here? thanks

Re: rear wheel bearings
I do it by feel.......and that is kind of hard to describe. It is similar to doing front wheel bearings, except for the lock ring. make sure you lightly pack the bearings though so when you first move it will be lubricated until oil splash does the job

Re: rear wheel bearings
thanks for the thought. i had already thought of doing it that way, but the truck is a tow truck and i use it frequently for hauling heavy stuff. it's just the OCD kicking in... diligence paid off, i found a local car repair shop owner at his shop, putting a new cab on one of his own trucks. he happily let me look up the info and then copied the page for me. small towns a a great place to need help.
