rocker studs pulling out !!!!ARRRGH!!!!!
well i have adjusted the rockers twice on the 69 c20 350 ci and they keep getting loose....
the nuts are good....they are the press in type, rocker studs. i have a set of 882 heads w/screw in rocker studs in the garage.. guess i will be pulling the heads...should i just pull the engine..? i know my back would like it much better.. does this sh!t ever end... |

You can pull the studs with the heads and engine in the truck, tap the holes and put in the screw in stud with locktite. Remember to drain the radiator. It can be done, I think total time would be less than pulling the engine.

You could pin the studs for a great deal less time and money BUT... I would definitely pull the heads to avoid any metal shavings , debris etc... getting into the engine. Bill is right on when saying to pull the heads. the time you save working at a convenient height on a workbench will be well worth the time invested to pull them off the engine. JMHO, Dean

Yeah I had this happen to me. I just left them on the motor pulled the problem stud and threaded the hole and replaced with a screw in stud. Put some grease around the area and wipe out when done. Motor ran for along time after that NO problems.
