Trans. linkage adjust

I completed the van tilit conversion. I forgot one important step, to mark the rod that attaches to the column and the gear selector on my TH350. Does anyone know how to adjust this. I've tried simply putting it in park and locking it down, but it getting pretty tight around drive and won't let me go to lower gears. Thanks.
