71-72 GMC SWB big block value

This past weekend at the swap meet a guy asked if I would be interested in buying 3-4 swb project trucks. I am a 73 -87 guy so I don't know what they might be worth. I don't have pictures and I haven't seen the trucks. I am just looking for a typical value range. I know they are projects and I have seen enough midwestern trucks to identify junk when I see it. Can anyone give me some guidance?

The total package is supposed to consist of 3 complete swb trucks plus one rolling chassis and bed. I believe there are two short wide beds and two step beds and some new sheetmetal I am assuming is repop.

The truck I am most interested in is a 71 or 72 GMC short wide bed that is supposed to be an original big block a/c truck. The original engine and trans are gone, supposedly the rest of the big block hardware is present. From the pictures it looks like a fairly complete project that needs paint and I am assuming typical bodywork to the cab. Any idea of what a range of values on this truck might be?

The bare chassis is a rolling drum brake coil spring swb that has new suspension bushings and wear items and has been powdercoated. The guy volunteered that the trucks belong to a friend who decided to go racing after buying the trucks for a project. He was originally asking $3500 for the lot which dropped to $3000 and sounds like can go lower. Can anyone give me a range what this pile o parts is worth? Thanks.

I would say for project trucks that are not all in one piece the best preic would be 2000-2500

3k for 3 swb trucks is a good deal especially with one of them being a factory bb swb

3 complete swb trucks and a extra frame for $3k or less, smokin deal imo... unless they are rust buckets.

Re: 71-72 GMC SWB big block value

it's a good deal as long as the frames aren't all rusted and the sheet metal is good. The cabs and beds would bring the best money if the are in good to great shape. Sheet metal and frames are what I look at first when buying a project, next is trim, the rest is fairly easy and cheap to find.

Thanks for the insights.

One other question, what should I look for under the hood that is bb unique? I assume a four core radiator? What do bb engine stands look like? Thanks.
