4.8 to 5.3 swap

Has anyone here swapped a 4.8 to a 5.3 in their truck? I have a 2001 silverado that I am pulling motor out of for a family member. There is plenty of 5.3's out there in my area to be had, but not a whole lot to choose from in the 4.8's. Other than changing the pcm is there anything else that I need to consider when changing to the 5.3?

Re: 4.8 to 5.3 swap

you might check out ls1truck.com for some quicker info in this swap.

I plan on installing a 5.3 in place of my 4.8 when it goes out.

I believe it would be a direct swap. the ECM should work also.

computer and everything should work just fine... should be a direct swap.. but if your going through all the trouble of swaping why not go 6.0?

any 4.8 to 5.3 or 60 will directly swap in. You will probably need a custom tune for your PCM though i believe.
