gear ratio and carrier split...
I am having a hard time remembering what the split is between the 2 different carriers used in the Posi 12-bolt. 3.73 and numberically lower is on carrier and 4.11 and numerically higher is the other carrier...Correct?
Thanks

Re: gear ratio and carrier split...
Not sure if this is what you are asking but.. When I called about a posi they ask if it is a 2, 3, or 4 series carrier. The man on the phone explained that the # refers to the gear ratio like you say because the thickness of the ring gear is different on each series. Hope that helps

Re: gear ratio and carrier split...
Howdy:
I'm not the rear end parts whiz, but have seen carriers for our trucks for 3.42 and lower(numberwise), and 3.73 and higher(number wise). By that, a 3.42 and 3.07 would use the same carrier. If otherwise, someone please say. My own part hunting is based on this! cowboy33713 |

Re: gear ratio and carrier split...
3.73 is the split I am almost sure. 3.73 will work in either a 3 series or 4 series carrier. They also make spacers to allow you to run 4.10's on a 3 series carrier.
