Post # of leafs in spring packs???

I got a 71 C-10 with 454 and leaf rear, the rear sits high, I counted leafs and think I came up with 8. how many do standard 10, 20, 30's have? and are the packs the same length and width? thanks Bryce

chevy2racer-
i got a 71 C-10 307 4 speed truck with aux add on factory springs and has 5 in the main pack and 5 in the overload pack on each side, sounds like someone added a bunch to yours, most i ever recall seeing in a mian pack on a 10 truck was a 78 Big10 that had 8 in each side with no add on, had a bazillion more on the 68 C30 with add on aux springs, had at least 15 and no shocks cuz the C30 didnt come with shocks std, so tires would clear the ground over every bump, like a basketball bouncing

Truck I just got today 71 c10 has leaf springs but only 4.Wonder what correct # is?
Tried looking in LMC catalog but they don't show any leafs for c-10's . Guess I'll have to get their GMC catalog to find out.

I know mine has 8 or 9 and it's definately a factory option. I think it had something to do with towing package.....

Hollanders shows the 69-72 C-10 2wd available with 4 leaf, 5 leaf, and 6 leaf. The 69-72 2wd C-10 and C-20 had the same dimension leaf springs. This does not include the aux rear spring which would make 7 leafs possible. The 69-72 C-30 with 11000lb rear axle could have a 7 leaf main and 7 leaf auxiliary spring (14 total). Hollanders also shows that 67-68 came with 8 and 9 leaf springs in a 2wd C-10. C-20 (67/68) could have 7 and 10 leaf springs. Go figure?

If I go over to my mom's today, I'll count the leaves in my original springs. 8 sounds like too much to me.

By the way, I've got a '70 GMC 1/2 ton shortbed fleetside.
