Value of a 1973 2-wheel drive Blazer?

I'm going to guess the best place to get a real world value would be the NADA guide here?

1973 Blazer Values

I've never been in a wreck before so any advice would be helpful. I'm also now in the market for a front clip for a 1973 as well as some doors.

Mike that's really sad to hear you got smacked in such a sweet looikng Blazer. I looked at the NADA figures and they appear about right. You probably have quit a bit more invested in it, but the value isn't to far off.

That really sucks, as it was a really clean Blazer. The other part that sucks is that I had just about everything you need, and it just sold, except the doors.

I've gathered some info for the Adjuster and after talking to him on the phone at lease he sounds like a "car guy". Hopefully it will work out fair.

Gotcha. Because I'm kind of a Chevy Truck/Blazer kind of guy and my 7-year old son wants to help me fix up the Blazer, chances are pretty good I'm going to become more of a regular on this forum.

Living in SoCal, my initial thought are it should be fairly easy to find the parts I need in good shape.

My first thoughts are to keep it mostly original. It was lowered by Les Schwab up in Oregon and the doors are actually off a Suburban with the out channel cut off, so it's already not in original condition.

What years front clips will bolt up to this body?

Also, if I want to re-do the front end, keep it lowered but trash everything that's been done so far, who makes the best front suspensions for these things?

Anything from 73-80 will work. FWIW, when you bought a replacement door from GM, it was a pickup/suburban door with a template to cut. If your caps were OK, just swap your hardware out and use that. The smaller door panels were used until 1976, 77 and later used a door panel that covered teh whole door width, and the door regulator had a longer post that holds the crank handle.

Nothing past 1980 is an easy bolt on? Thanks for this information, I already located a 1986 front clip in my home town in decent shape. Sounds like it's time to start calling Pick & Pull.

When I bought this truck, it had the Suburban doors already on it from the other guy and where they cut the channel around the window they then filled with bondo. The glass has never rolled up good or easy.

We installed an 87 front clip on brothers 74 blazer. It's a relatively easy swap, but you will have to make a couple cuts for the hood hinges to clear the top of the firewall. If you make a template from your donor trucks firewall it should be a piece of cake.

In about 10 minutes I'm leaving to go look at a 1975 K5 Blazer 4x4 in original condition with a 1991 front clip as a bonus.

I myself wouldnt change to the later 81-91 style.......Its not that I dont like them(I wouldnt put an earlier front clip on my 85 silverado)you dont see all that many 73-80s any more at least not aroud here

I have to agree with Shane here. I have a 77 Cheyenne and an 82 Blazer. I "like" the 81+ front end, but I "love" the 73-80 front end. Keep that clissic look alive.

Just got home, 50 miles away in horrific traffic then out to dinner and such.

The 1975 Jimmy 4x4 is rough by most people's standards but considering its 31 years old it's in "fair" condition. It runs, drives, brakes, etc. appears to be mostly original, and fairly complete. I have some pictures if anyone's interested.

The 1991 front clip is in great condition, it's complete and never hit. It also includes both the front and rear chrome bumpers, and the dash gages and housing plus both doors. It's off a 1991 Suburban that was hit in the rear while it was parked and totaled out.

The owner is asking $3500. for the truck and $1000.00 for the front clip, doors, bumpers, etc. and over the phone on the first call I got him to $4000.00 for everything.

Here are a couple of shots of the 1975 Jimmy I looked at last night, it's pretty beat. The front clip is fairly straight and complete and any rust I could see was surface rust.






The owner wants $3500.00 for the truck and $1000.00 for the 1991 Suburban Front clip, doors and bumpers. He'll take $4000.00 for everything.

I haven't decided if I'm going to buy it or not, but one plan, (the "lots of work plan), would be to buy it,take the front clip and doors of this Jimmy and put them on my 73 Blazer and then put the 91 Suburban clip on the Jimmy and sell it.

Or, put the 91 Suburban front clip on my Blazer and drive the Jimmy while my Blazer is down. Sell the Jimmy after the Blazer is back on the road.

sounds like a good plan man. i would keep the 73 to 80 front end for yours and put the 91 front on the jimmy. Let us know what you end up doing. by the way the jimmy does not look that bad for been as old as it is The agian you do live in the south west. that would make a great 4x4 project. and if you paint and do some work on the jimmy it should bring back your money or at least some!
