Numbers above heater

Hey guy's what are the numbers usually above the heater box on the firewall? When I repaint it I would like to put them on it again, but some of them are missing. It starts with CS like the VIN.

Re: Numbers above heater

I don't know what the mean exactly but they are the first few digits of the VIN or model number of the truck.

Perhaps we could compare notes and figure them out. I'll look at mine. Many of them are hard to read if they survive.

It seems more often they are above the brake M.C. than Heater box but there are variations.

Re: Numbers above heater

OK here goes mine. It is above the brake M.C.

Lettering on fire wall looks like

CE10934 57

My Vin is CD148J157390

The model # on the glove box is CE 10934

Then in looks like the lettering on my firewall is the model plus "57" What ever that means.

I've got so see if I can find my 68 restoration sheets to decode that.

I always thought it was the VIN then I found out it was the model number (some call it the style number) so the guys at the factory knew what the heck they were building. My reads CE10734 on my firewall and on the frame
