The firewall on a non-A/C cab is different than an A/C cab. I don't know how hard it is to make it work anyway...

A/c work is extremely high nowdays due to the restrictions placed on the industry by the federal goverment due to enviromental concerns, My truck came with the factory air option and all the parts were with the truck. I installed a new compressor dryer and exp valve flushed sysyem converted to r134a and replaced various seals and hoses. and got out for about $800

You could get it done for about half of that if you have a friend in the a/c business.

There are companies that make a system for these trucks using newer components either for a factory a/c truck or truck without original a/c.

I would think that you would be alot happier with the end results using one of these kits. the older systems have to be optimized to get the performance that the newer systems deliver.

The difference between A/C cabs and non A/C cabs is the number of holes stamped into them. Alot of these holes are marked from the factory. I'm in the process of converting my cab. I cut out the vents in the dash, cut the firewall too. Just get an old A/C cab for a pattern and start cutting. We found a rotted out A/C and made cardboard patterns. Let me know if you want to see some pics.
