New Summit Dizzy.........now tach doesnt work
Hey everyone I bougt a new dizzy from Summit. The only diff in this one and the stock one is there was a third metal tab in the 3 prong plug. Well I didnt think that was wierd because the new cap and plug had 3 connctions the old one only 2. It runs so much better now. I stabbed it one time and timed it to 10 degrees with the vaccum advance pluged. Absolutly no spark knock. It acts like the tach is going bacwards. It worked perfect with the old dizzy.
Any suggestions guys. Thanks in advance. Tony this is in my 76 K15 350 the part number is SUM-850001R

Are you saying the new cap or old cap had three connections? Have you pulled the dust covers on both caps and compared the coil connections? It would be possible to get the coil leads in the wrong position on the cap.

I don't know what affect crossing the leads would have on performance. I remembered that the coil wires were simple to cross up. I had the HEI apart too many times before I just replaced it. You might want to also make sure the connectors are properly seated and aren't coming loose. I have had issues in the past because of that.
