I got a set of 15X8 Corvette style Rallies for the front of my truck. I went to put them on and it looks like my calipers hit!!!!!! WTF
Anybody run into this problem? Is there a disc brake wheel and a drum brake wheel??? HELP, I already had the tires mounted

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
I ran into the same problem. I have seen some people grind the caliper down on the top edge to make it work. I ended up just going to a bigger rim.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
OK, that doesn't sound cool at all. I just got a set as well. I checked the back for clearance, but no the front. Guess I'll have to see and maybe trim the caliper? Lots of people run these rims, wonder if they all had the same issue???

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
I got the front ones for free; I guess I know why now. I will either grind the caliper, which I don’t really like OR get some wheel spacers which I don’t really like either but I have to get these wheels to work, at least for now

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
Crap, well, how can they be different? I mean, a 15" rim is a 15" rim right? Is it the backspacing that causes the problem? I guess I'll find out this weekend. I just had tires mounted on my rims this morning as well.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
There is a difference in drum and disk wheels!!!!!! My recomendation would be to sell the ones you have and buy the correct wheels!!!

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
Not so much back spaciong, but general shape.
there is PLENTY of calaper material to remove, if it needs less than 1/8 inch, then I say go for it. I have done that much on later model stuff which we all know is generally made thinner than our old stuff. |

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
Thanks Andy! The reason I didn't check the fitment on my front rims was because I have 5 lug rotors on the front, decided to stick with 6, and my 6 lug ECE rotors are sittin in the garage waiting to go on the truck (no extra 6 lug rims with tires lying around so I had to wait 'till I got the new tires mounted.) Hopefully, they'll fit, if not, hopefully they'll just need tweaking!

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
If you had your stock 6 lug rims, you'd find they don't fit either. 4X4 wheels will clear them though. Extra backspacing can solve the problem, but like I said before, it's the shape of the wheel in reality.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
The bolt pattern for a Corvette ,I think is 4-3/4" and the truck is 5". You can't use them unless you change to 4-3/4" bolt circle.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
He has already gotten them over the lugs (and he stated they are 6 lug rotors) they are obviously aftermarket...but in the corevette rally 'style' wheel.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
The set on my truck are Vintage Wheel rally's, don't seem to have a clearance problem, they are 15x10's. I used 1971 spindles and calipers.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
It shouldnt matter disc or drum!
I have Wheel Vintques and they fit no problem. 5 lug ECE disc conversion. All the ralley wheels should be the same unless they ar 14" which you said they werent. depends on how much you have to grind on your rotor to make them clear is the only concern. If it is just a little then it is no problem. ECE did say that i might have to grind a little on the caliper depending on which wheel I used. I didnt see where you said if it is 5 or 6 lug or if it is a conversion. if it is stock then there must be something wrong with the wheel. If the are original vette rallies all corvettes with those rallies had disc brakes so the should fit.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
coloradok5.com has instructions for modifying a 3/4 caliper to run 15 inch wheels. The same process can be used for your problem.

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
since we are on the subject I am kinda worried now.. anyone know if I will run in to any problems with 15X8 6lug rallies on a drum/drum application? Its on a 67 frame, I just picked up some 4x4 rallies and was going to swap the front center cap out for another set of rears.. sorry to hi-jack btw

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
Are these the 6-lug aftermarket "Vette-style" wheels?I`m surprised they aren`t made with the modern "disc-type" profile.True, factory disc vs drum wheels are different. But,these "made for truck" car-style rallyes in 5 or 6 lug should be made in the disc profile. That`s nuts!

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
I was thinking the same thing. Why would a modern day wheel be made that wouldn't clear discs?

Re: Rally wheels dont fit
Like I said, these were given to me so I don’t know the origin of them. I have stock disc brake spindles and its 5 lug. I'm looking for spacers to see if I can get it to work but will most likely buy new wheels that fit right.

Hey 1970 CST Short Wide: Do your rims look like the picture on the right or the one on the left (from jimmydeans post)? Just curious.
