Plate for the top of the rear coil ?

Hi all,

I'm replacing the coils on the back of my 72 GMC 3/4 ton, and the PO had done some questionable things to the rear axle (i.e. replaced U bolt with 2 regular bolts)

Now I'm not sure if he removed the plates from the top of the rear coils, or if there weren't any to start with. Can someone help me out ?

(Just to clarify, I'm talking about the plates that hold the bottom of the coil to the trailing arm. Where the top of the coil touches the frame there's only a bolt head sticking out...)

it is called a spring cup I believe. There is one for the top and the bottom, bottom one has a nut welded to it and you just run the bolt up thru the trailing arm to catch the spring cup, and the top is a bolt and nut thru the frame and spring perch that holds the upper spring cup in place as well as the spring.

My brown 69 trailer has a similar situation. The po cut the top of the loop off the u bolt and just welded what was left to the perches. Plus the idiot took off the nut and washer that holds on the yoke on the ho52/72 axle. From what I have heard is near imposible to get off! Some po's! Aaron
