i installed my 07 tahoe 20 inch wheels and here is how i did it. remember the 07 have a different offset then 06s and back. i used a set of 2 inch 6 lug to 6 lug adapter for the rear and 1 1/4 inch adapters on the front. use the big hole adapters so you have no machine work to do. they look great and the offset front to rear looks right. i think i read somewhere that the 68 rear ends were 3/4 inch narrower on each side. anyways i like the look a modern wheel on old truck. the truck has 275-55-20 inch tires and fills the wells front to back nicely i clipped the front springs one ring and wheel well matchs top of tire (i will go spindel drop later) i will try a set of bags i have on rear this weekend. not sure if they will work, posted questions over in suspension but no luck yet. sorry not set up for pics yet but will in future. thanks, pkj

spacers are not really a good idea, and illegal in some places.
mid 70 and older are 3/4 inch narrower

not using spacers. these are 6 lug to 6 lug adapters, very popular with the 4x4 crowd. the studs holding the wheel are 1/2 inch, much better then the 7/16 stock studs holding the adapter to the drum. i feel these are a lot stronger and safer then spacers. but if i am wrong i need to know. also these are billet with pressed in studs. thanks, pkj

I think a quality "adapter" is OK. The wheel/tire centerline is still the same (or close) relative to the hub as it is with a stock wheel with no adapter. This does not add any additional stress to the original lugs. The factory uses basically this same type of spacer on the front end of late model IFS 4WD dually trucks for Budd wheels. When it is all bolted together the original lug studs do not see any different stress than they would with an original offset wheel and no spacer. Basically if you look at the new style wheel bolted together with the adapter it looks/acts exactly like an old style wheel as far as the truck is concerned.
