Bought a new motor....
Well, the word "new" is probably wrong. It's a 1976 Chevrolet Small block 350c.i. V8. It has a 4bbl Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, which was great in it's time and will have to be great for me until I can afford an Edelbrock.
1976 is pretty old (only 30). But, as shown in the 4th picture, it has been rebuilt so there is some hope that it will be a good motor. Used 350 V8: $200.00 Cheap Hooker Headers: $169.99 Brackets: $30.00 Tank of gas: $60.00 Being able to beat something: Priceless

Re: Bought a new motor....
Hey I got a quadrajet on a holley street dominator and I'll still spin some tires and pulled on my friends v-tec Accord. You'll love the torque even a stock v8 will have compared to a 6.

Re: Bought a new motor....
BOWTIEMAN: I'm looking forward to doing sometire spinning of my own!
MISTERMAN: 1976 engine.... 1967 truck. No smog tests for me! KRUE: Actually it's not in a Chevy truck. It's in the bed of a 1970's Datsun bed which is now a trailer. But the color is pretty close, that's why I just started painting it right there in the trailer 7387CHEVYS: This was 200 bucks. I actually bought it off of a towcompany that guaranteed that it ran. My treasureyard sells engines for a 100 bucks a block. Of course, they'll charge you for heads, and carb, and what ever money they can shake outta you. It's only a 2-bolt main, but I ain't pickin'. I'm just greatful.

Re: Bought a new motor....
I thought that all the late 70's truck 350's were 4 bolts

Re: Bought a new motor....
haha no kidding..... I'd like to see a small block inside a Datsun pickup! People do it to Toyota trucks a lot around here.
Do you know what year 4 bolt main 350's started? I wasn't sure totell you the truth, but If igured it wasa 2 bolt main. 1976.... pretty old.

Re: Bought a new motor....
hey on your motor, where is the timing tab?? it looks as if its right behind
the water pump. if its straight down behind the water pump, thats a 305 not a 350. if you have to look behind the water pump to see the tab that is. just an observation. Dwayne

Re: Bought a new motor....
all the 305's ive ever seen had the mark behind the water pump. havent seen
a 350 with the mark there. 327, 350, and 400 had it on the side. just my opinion. Dwayne what are the numbers on the back of the block??
