Another New Member...

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop a note of introduction...I recently added a 71 Blazer to my collection and have been scouring the boards and burning up the search feature! Thanks for the great forum and great info! I'm in Live Oak, near San Antonio, TX. Expect LOTS of questions from me in the near furture!

Here's a couple shots of the starting point (well close to it - already did a few things here)

Don't worry - they stopped working already! I figured the light show would help offset the lack of any top....Oh well

Thanks for the welcomes guys!

Krue - What's in Lone Oak that I don't want to be associated with? I've seen several eBay auctions for Blazer parts with a location of Lone Oak, Tx. Bad mojo on those?

Thanks! - The color was the draw for me. I know it has rust in the usual places, but it's nice enough to buy me some time to collect parts. I can drive it for a while, then fix it and respray the same shade down the road and not drive (another) multi-colored 4x4.

I'll get some more pics posted up over the weekend. I'm off to Houston for business until Sat. Not much else to see though - those ARE the good sides!

General specs so far, for anyone interested....
rebuilt 350 (not sure yet of year)
Edlebrock manifold & carb
Accel dizzy
headers
TH350
NP205
D44 front/Corp. 12 bolt rear
6" Superride lift
35" MT Baja Claws

Plans, as of now, include:
parring down my other projects
roll bar
fabbed 1/2 top (if I can find a cheap/free hard top with a bad rear)
or bikini top (custom?)
EFI conversion (8 MPG SUCKS )
Herculiner the tub interior
add center console
new fuel tank (now a necessity - on the way here)
custom gauges (eventually)
and eventual rust repair/respray

First,WWELCOME and nice Blazer.About Lone Oak,there`s a guy there,James Blanton, that goes by other alias`that is an internet rip-off.There was a sticky just for warning about him that was recently dropped with a format change here.To add insult to injury, when you leave negative feedback on Ebay, you`ll just get some back from him. He`s lynchin` material to put it simply.

Hey on a quick note, is that a Scout in the background for sale? If it is I got a friend who lives over in UC who might be interested in it.

LOL - yeah, the Scout's on the block.... I'm currently working on a few cosmetics and shoring up some oil leaks, so it's inoperable right now, but was my DD about 2 weeks ago. It's a 73 with discs up front, 345, 727, D20, new Crager soft 8's and fairly new yokohama 30x9.5's. It has rust (like all Scouts) in the normal Scout areas, but it's been a good rig so far. Looking for $1200 now, but the more I do, the more it'll ratchet up.

Here's another shot of it (prior to the wheel/tire swap)...

I've got a few others in the project 'bin' at this point too (sorry - all crappy, older pics)...

Thanks - I think I just talked to him Wed. about a replacement gas tank...went elsewhere though, for a metal one.
