Exclamation 402 headache! Anyone help?

I bought this from a reputable local rebuilder, (a 450 hp factory bore 402, allegedly from a 69 camaro). Little did I know, it would be much trouble.
I put it in, set it up, got 400mi, and it wiped out two rod bearings and the crank. This rebuilder "fixed" it, at MY cost. 200mi later, it snapped off a rocker arm stud (#5 exhaust). He "fixed" it again. 200mi later it started tapping, so I nursed it 2miles to get home, shut it down, and removed the valvecovers. The oil was GRITTY with metal flakes. I started it and observed that the pushrod on #5 exhaust was bent. As I went to shut it back down, it started knocking again, and got out a good 5-10 knocks before I got it turned off.
HOW *&^%$# AM I?
Any suggestions?

Nor a stock bore 402 in '69...it woulda been a '70 if a 402, a 396 if a '69.

That's what I was told- reliable source, but maybe I should investigate further- anyone else ever heard of a 69 402?
