Clearance lights

Hi Everyone
First I'd like to say Hello to everyone. I think this is a GREAT site!
My 1970 Chev 1/2 ton has clearance lights, but when I look at pictures of other peoples trucks, I never see them on any. Are other people removing them or are they just that rare?

Re: Clearance lights

No body wants them any more, so you'd better take them off and send them to me Don't know, but I'm suprised to see them on a 1/2T factory.

Re: Clearance lights

See them on some trucks. My buddy's 70 C30 that he converted to 4wd has them. Here is his truck.

Boardmember barn9 has them on his 2wd.

Re: Clearance lights

Depends if yours are factory "hockey puck" style or a type of after market kind.... or someone changed your cab from a 3/4 or 1 ton cab that had factory lights. A factory running light cab had raised "cups" that the lenzes mounted on.

Cool Re: Clearance lights

I like'em, and to me it makes it look like a truck. Yes there are factory cabs that have a set of cups that the little round lights fit in. But there is also a Dealer Kit that comes with a stencil that lays the holes out for you. We use to put a lot of them on at the body shop. Way back in the day they were as big a deal as a huge Steel Diamond Plate Rear Bumper and a Headache Rack !!! I'm putting the new after market clear ones with LED bulbs on my C-20 because there just isn't enough " Manly Trucks" these days !!!

You could get them on a half ton, but you don't see too many optioned like that. Usually the hockey puck style lenses crack and are replaced with the later "torpedo" shaped lenses. My GMC K2500 had them from the factory, but when I got the truck it only had two of the hockey pucks left, and both literally fell apart when I took them off. I replaced them with the lenses off of an '80s C10, so they were even available on newer half tons. IMO, the newer lenses look a lot better than the hockey pucks.

Re: Clearance lights

I always liked em and would have them if I didn't have to have a visor.

Re: Clearance lights

My 68 K-10 came with them, I think they are original. I plan on replacing them with a new repop set from LMC. They kinda grow on ya after awhile...

Re: Clearance lights

Those ones are actually dealer installed aftermarket peices. My 80 K25 has the exact same clearance lights on it

And yes, I love the look of clearance lights, and wish more trucks had them!
