Re: unusual options
I think that`s what makes them Canadian.I mean, yes they do,and that is how you know that they are. And,I think it`s not what they have as much as what they don`t have.Which would be in the base truck, like safety or emmissions standards not yet mandated in Canada.

Re: unusual options
Trucks built for export to Sweden also have the Z49 option.
They also have the U18 Kilo Speedometer option.

Re: unusual options
This hasn't anything to do with a Canadian option, but an old Gent up here special ordered this truck to work an apple orchard. It's a 3/4 ton with the factory dually add-on. The flat bed rack body has rounded corners instead of the square corners you see today.
I have cut sanded and varnished new oak for the deck as well as the full and partial fences. The skid strips are polished stainless, and the sills are solid two inch oak from front to back.

Re: unusual options
Here's a couple of shots of my '68. The cab pics are as I bought it, but I've redone the deck once, (it needs a freshening - re sanded, varnished etc,) I bagged the rear and am debating the front. The wheels are Alcoa. My brain says leave the 292 in it with headers, and a 4bbl, My heart says 454 w/TH400 that I got from a Burb. I bought two complete cow hides for the interior redo, and just this morning took it up to the paint shop for an '89 Chevy truck Burgundy paint job. So my goals are; Burgundy outside and inside, w/dark and light shades of brown leather on the seat, dash, and door panels. The varnished deck, fences, and a finished oak box will do the rear end. I had the fence hardware nickle plated and want to eventually put two beer-keg saddle tanks under the forward end of the deck on both sides. The kegs are 15 gal. and full will only add about 100 lbs ea. As the last pic shows, I scored a C60 (?) instrument cluster to monitor the air press. in the bags.
That's the plan as of this moment.......this is subject to change........

Re: unusual options
Thank you,
It's a work-in-progress and by next spring there will be several mods to the plan, but basically that's the direction we're going. tim

Re: unusual options
That looks like the factory flatbed, they hadthat type of steel edge w/rounded corners.I`m surprised it`s not listed s an option. It`s rare to see the dual Rr wheel option on a 20 series.I`m diggin` that truck.

Re: unusual options
Slomotion, Love that truck!!!!!!!!!! I'd definitely go NV4500 5spd for that instead of an auto like you mentioned. It would be different for sure(As in awesome!)
Seeing that dual wheel conversion option raises a question with me..........My '69 3500 GMC 1-ton was a cab/chassis from the factory and it has this same option on it? Did all the 1-tons have it that were duallys? It has a 305V-6, 4spd, and 10K GVW.............It went to a dump body manufacturer for a masonary box and went to work for a township.

Re: unusual options
Slomotion....I'll ask and wonder what the gvw rating that 3/4 ton had with the dually option as manufactured?

Re: unusual options
TP, I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. The unusual part of my truck is that it's a C20 (3/4 ton) with the dually's.
I'm sure someone here can answer your question.

Re: unusual options
Rod, I don't know, but that's an interesting question. I'll do some research. (I was given the original bill of sale, and dealer invoice when I got the truck) My first guess is that the original owner was more interested in a wider foot print (orchard work) then he was in load carrying capabilities.

Re: unusual options
Longhorn, you're right about the VIN tag, it's just that the cab is at the paint shop and I was hopeing some of the paper work would show the GVW. Which of course it doesn't.

Re: unusual options
The fronts match the rears, only turned around.
The hardest part of the swap was changing all of the lugs. The originals were 1/2" and the Alcoa's require a 9/16" stud. I had to drill out all of the holes and bump in the larger ones. The job wasn't super critical because the wheels are hub piloted so a few thousands +/- didn't matter.
