Original Title!!
I thought this was pretty interesting . A few months ago I bought my next project. It’s a one owner 72 BB Cheyenne Super with the original title. I wish I could pay off a new truck in the same amount of time he paid off this one.
The truck also came with some other good documentation like the protec-to- plate. Now I need to come up with a way to keep the original title. Maybe I can get the PO to apply for a lost title of something!

Re: Original Title!!
Ask him if he'll do it...can't hurt. Offer to pay the fees and throw an extrad 50 on top... I promise he'll do it for 50 bucks.
Bummer the truck isn't a longhorn huh? |

Re: Original Title!!
The youngens tend to not realize that the 48, 60, and 72 month car loans are a fairly new thing. "Back in the day" many people got new cars every year or so...they would be paid-off in 12 months and would be traded-in while still having significant value and life left to them.
I remember when the 48 month car loan was just begining and my mother, the banker, cautioning me against doing that. The longer you spread out the payments, the more interest you pay over-all. My grandmother only had a four year note on her house.... in 1933 |

Re: Original Title!!
I had the original title for mine since my father bought it new. was about the same size as a 3x5 card. Very cool looking. You have a good find there.

Re: Original Title!!
Damn - to bad you're not in Florida, you don't have to have a title. Just a bill of sale from the previous owner and Florida will cut you an new title. Then you could frame that one.

Re: Original Title!!
I agree, ask him.Tell him you`re an enthusiast and collect memorabilia.I bought my short K/10 this summer and it came with the original title that looked brand new.I hated to let it go.I have the original invoice, though. The guy put $20 down on it,then came back with the $3,700+/- cash and bought it outright.Under insurance it said "none".That was alot of money back then, but still easier to come up with than $37,000 today. And,we wouldn`t think of not insuring it,even w/o mandated insurance.Things were more relaxed back then, waaayyy more relaxed.

Re: Original Title!!
I guess i will and ask! The only problem is that the old man who owned and loved the truck has died. I think he would have done it for sure( well he would have never sold the truck if he was still alive). His grandaughter handles his estate and I am not sure she would even bother. I guess it wont hurt to try.
Here's a pic of the truck the day I got it by the way.

Re: Original Title!!
I bought a 68 a couple of years ago from the original owner , it was on the orig title , when i went to the DMV i asked them if there was any way i could keep the original , unfortunately i can't remember how they did it , but i got it , they did draw a line thru it and write Void across it . Could be just Washington State , but it couldn't hurt to ask .

Re: Original Title!!
When I got my 72 from my uncle who was the original owner, Va DMV let me keep the original title but had to stamp VOID on it.They said they would only do that for the original titles. I have the old and new titles on my wall...

How much did you pay for your truck, if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Original Title!!
I tried to keep the original for my 68, since it was my grandfather's trucka nd it was cool seeing his signature on it. But the DVM clerk would not let me.
My grandpa was a dirt poor farmer. This truck was the last machine he ever bought brand new. But because of a drought a couple of years later he had to keep rolling his farm loans over for several years. It really surprised me to see on the title that it took him over 7 years to pay off the truck note. OUCH! I scanned a high quality copy of it before I turned it in, but it isn't the same...
