Dillema - Advise please

Some of you may have seen my recent ticket back into the '67-'72 truck world via this thread:

Anyway - I found out that the Tranny shop put some long bolts in the coverter, broke one, and the other 2 wern't tight. Luckily it didn't damage anything but the treads in the converter.
(I also think they put metric bolts into SAE theads)

So being that the truck had a massive oil leak anyway I decided to pull the motor out so that I could re-seal the motor and fix the converter.

Here is the Dilema:

Upon removal of the motor Today I found out that the motor is not original to the truck.
Looks like sombody put a '62-'63 327cid in it with some '70 or "aftermarket" 492 Heads (they'll be on the shelf in my shop for future use)
The motor is has the small main journals so you can't put a 350 crank in it. It is basically only goo do someone who needs a '62 or '63 327 for thier "original car"

Not to mention that the Carb is a big Holley 780CFM (3310-1)

So this truck isn't anything overly special - so I'm debating do I get a set of used heads to put on the 327 and shove it back in?
do I put together one of the '89 350 1pc Seal Blocks I have together and run that.
The short stroke of the 327 was probably why it seemed to be reving a bit higher as well - not that it makes that much of a differance

What would you do? Got and cheap torquey 350 combinations that I could use to put one together?

And a GM Crate is out of the question right now (I know they are only $1400...but can't do it) I would rather try to throw something together for a few hundred.

I really don't think the truck is worth of that kind of motor - and def. not the heads. The 327 with those heads should be saved for something light that needs a quick revving car - not a truck that wants some torque.

How are you going to use the truck? Start with that and then keep an eye out for something reasonable that fits what you are going to use it for.
if the engine runs pretty good, put a timing chain in it, reseal it, and replace that big a$% carb and put it back in

Truck will be more or less a DD and a once-in-a-while tow vehicle.

Those big heads and big carb are going to suck gas like crazy even with my skinny light foot

Your MPG will pretty much be the same regardless of what you do...give or take 3 MPG or so... so do what you want.
After driving a high strung 350 that needed to spin 3500 just to wake up (was built for a lighter car and the 1/4 mile) I went the torque route with a caddy 500.... and I've been gigglin every day since...at least, when I hit the fun pedal I giggle anyways.
