Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
That is a 72 only glovebox emblem. 71 doesn't have the scroll.

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Sweet truck. I noticed you're missing the tailgate handle trim, I've got an extra if you're interested. You can get a decent look of one in this pic-

Sure...let's work something out.
Also...my handle I noticed is a bit crooked. It rubs a piece as it opens. Tim

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
My whole goal is to get the truck very mechanically sound. In the spring I wam going to attack the rockers, cab corners, floor, pillars...etc. I am also going to put in a blazer tank and get the one our of the cab. I am also going to weld in patches for the two filler doors in front of the rear wheels.
I have a fuel tank switch but I cannot find the other tanks. So I will most likely just remove it. Are there any DVDs out like ebfabman's rust and repair DVDs but for doors? Thanks, Tim

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Here is a scan of the first and last page of the warranty page. I even have the plate used for warranty work. Not sure why the PO kept it for so long. But I am glad he did.

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
That`s a great find. There aren`t many shortbed CheyenneSuper K/10s out there. It would look fantastic back in medium olive poly.Where`s the tach? That rig`s outfitted in all the western truck accessories, like it was actually used for something. That`s a chrome-plated plow mount, right?Boy,you never see that back east. Are you sure that`s a Warn winch?I don`t know if it`s my poor memory, but,I don`t recall them making a hidden hitch.Hickey Enterprises is the one that comes to my mind. You have a real gem there.

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Quote:
I will be going back to the olive color. I am a real hugger red fan...but the gree is growing on me fast. There is no tach...but since I have to replace the bezel...I am going tach.\ The PO is Max James. Lived in Bountiful since 1961 in the same home. He dies two years ago. His wife could not bring herself sell the truck for two years as it was all she really had that reminded her of him. I met her and two of the daughters. I think one of the daughters was not happy the truck was being sold. They told me this truck was Max's love. He never let his wife and daughters drive the truck. It was his hunting truck. It has never been wrecked. He took the steering wheel off of it some time ago and it was hanging in his garage. They gave that to me too. They also gave me three pictures of the truck on a camping trip in 1983. The wife is standing next to it and he is standing next to it...and of course there is a trailer behind it. I probably paid too much for it but I seemed to like the history of the truck so it did not bother me. I also wanted to give the wife some cash. She is in her 70's. It could possibly be a "one owner/one driver" kind of thing. It is definitely a one owner. I guess the chrome thing is a plow mount. I am going to take it off and sell it with the winch and controller. I do not plan to plow anything. It is a Dayton winch. Cheers, Tim

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
That truck back here would go for $6,000+,easy.I don`t know if that made you feel any better.Just one more way of proving these truck`s greatness, your story sound so familiar. There are many, many of these trucks that were bought new and held onto as the last vehicle owned to the end. They left nothing to be desired and were reliable throughout their age.I think GM slipped-up on the "planned obsulescence" plan and made these too good.Enjoy!

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
I got it for $3,400. Just put a reman motor in it. The other one had at most in one cylinder 80 psi.
There is some work to get it back to very nice condition...but I am committed. Tim

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Yeah I will take that for $20 shipped ...now I understand. I was looking in all my catalogs and could not find what I thought you were talking about.
Does that lever adjust downward? See my pic above where it is rubbing on right side when you open it. That chrome piece will rub even more..possibly ruining it. Tim

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
I looked at your truck pictures from the link you posted. Looks nice and a clean interior, that's always a plus. I am looking at a 72 project truck right now, and will see what happens. I will post some pics if I pick it up.
One of the guys I work with has a 71 K20 Longbed Turquoise Blue 350/TH400. It is a very driveable truck but kinda rough though. I have been trying to buy it from him for 2 years now with no luck. Last edited by Texasdeere; 10-05-2006 at 09:59 AM. |

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Unfortunately those pics above are 23 years old...unless you checked out my newb post in the welcome are.
The truck is a little rougher now...but I am going to give it some serious TLC over the next two years and recherry that bad boy. Can't wait to see your pics. Tim

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Yes I saw your pics in the other thread were the truck looks to be a grey and white two tone. Those propane tanks are interesting.
I had taken a camera with me when I looked at the 72 yesterday but it was inside a shop and had stuff piled all over it. Later |

Re: Cheyenne Super squiggly scroll work
Yeah that is the one. I am going back to Olive in the grand scheme.
The propane tanks have been there sinec the late 70's when gas was relatively shooting through the roof. There is actually a switch that I removed yesterday that allows the propane to be used in the engine...there is also a whole contraption under the hood that facilitates this whole deal...it, along with the propane tanks are coming out. Of course I could fill them with water and use them for weight in the winter.

Have you looked to see if the build sheet is still around? It would go nice with all the other paperwork.
