Re: anyone know who this mystery dash belongs to...?
it looks to me that they just used a glove box door to make the gauge bezel.. as for the radio and switches, its just metal work

Re: anyone know who this mystery dash belongs to...?
if anyone does this.. .please use a shorter shifter.
That is a very well exicuted dash... the truck (from this one photo) looks to be a piece of art... it's not my style, but i can overlook that. However, that shifter looks like a friggen spud bar stuck in the column..the gas pedal looks out of place too. Very nice rig though, please don't look at this as negative. Re: anyone know who this mystery dash belongs to...?
i agree with your opinion of the huge shifter and gas pedal.. i have a 13 inch woodgrain wheel at the moment and id like to know what types of shifter handles i could get a hold of that still look stock but are not as mongoloid!

not normally a fan of aftermarket gauges in place of the originals, but this application looks really good, the gauges being countersunk make it look right.

No matter how many of these custom interiors I see, I can't help but think of how much I like the factory styling better.
Nice work, but not my cup-o-tea either. |

Re: anyone know who this mystery dash belongs to...?
I thought a while back of using a glove box door for a bezel, but keeping the botton and using the hinges, so you can just pull it down a little and have the headlight and wiper knobs hiden inside

Re: anyone know who this mystery dash belongs to...?
I helped a friend do that same thing in his Blazer. A year before the Blazer, my buddy had built a complete dash for a '69 Branco that had been hashed by the PO. We were going to do a complete dash in the Blazer until he bought a nicer glove box door at the swap meet.
We took the old door and used a similar setup with Autometer gauges, only in the factory locations. I wish I could find pictures. That is a very clean look. |
