454 in 71 blazer?

Going to put the 454/ TH400/ Doubler into the 71 K5. It is currently in an 83 frame. What do I need to know about motor mounts? Will the ones from the 83 fit? Crossmember clearance? It has HEI and tall valve cover to cleare roller rockers. I am putting a 1" body lift on the rig. Will I need to do some creative BFH mods to firewall to fit it? It also has hedman headers, will they fit? Looking in a jegs mag it looks like the application could be the same. Any other tips regarding the swap? Thanks

the 83 frame will throw a curve in our advice, but the 4X4 trucks never had big blocks. The way most ppl do it is with a body lift, and i think one inch won't be enough... eso with the tall valve covers.

Re: 454 in 71 blazer?

use a 73+ crossmember moved up I think 2" from stock holes.... use the better 73+ motor mounts with the crossmember and maybe get a electric fan setup from the junkyard.... to compensate the engine being close to the radiator. Hope this helps. You might still have the massage the firewall just a bit to fit the taller valve covers. Trevor

Re: 454 in 71 blazer?

It is going into a 71 framed K5 but coming out of a 83 truck with headers and all for a 80s style truck. I could take the crossmember out of the 83 frame too if needed. I already run ford windstar electric fans so that might give me some clearance and I have a 1" body lift already rounded up. Basically would it be best to use the 83 crossmember/ mounts and if so or not what about moving the crossmember forward? Also header clearance, tall valve cover clearance and distributor clearance? Thanks again!
