Friend of mine who has a 350 swore up and down that his engine takes more oil than my 307. I could have swarn they both are the same (4qts). What are the oil capacities?

My 5.3L (2000 Silverado engine) takes exactly 5 quarts for an oil change.

My 350 in the 67 takes 5 1/2 to 6 quarts.

I hear ya on that. I'm only 25 but I think my memory has advanced "old timer's" disease

The thing that drives me nuts the most is that I'll set a tool or part down, and it will take me 15 minutes to find it

This typically happens about 50 times in any given weekend.

5qts is normal but an aftermarket pan might cause a difference.

In stock form in similar original applications; I'm pretty sure the 307 and 350 take the same amount of oil.

Yeah, the 350 has a crappy "aftermarket" pan and it did look a little bigger than my bent up stock one I took off.

5 quarts with stock pan and filter. I sometimes run one of those monster wix 51794 full quart filters. So then it would be 5.5 quarts. Oh here is the other part numbers for the monster filter: AC PF932, CARQUEST 85794, FRAM PH373, NAPA 1794, PUROLATOR L40084.
If you gaot a good motor I would recomend changing to this filter for more oil and filter capacity but they arent cheap about $10. I stoped using them on my green and white cause the motor is on its last miles. Hope this helps.

Hey, cool. Yeah, I'll be getting one of those!

Some 350's took less, like some out of cars. The 350 in my Caprice, as well as the LT-1 in the T/A took 4.5 quarts cuz of the teeny filter they put on those engines for whatever reason. Fortunately there's plenty of clearance for the larger filter. Hopefully there will be plenty for the super-sized version.

I once came across a Buick 350 that took only 4 quarts. And the 5.3 in my Avalanche takes 6 quarts. Keep adding until the dipstick says "full!"

Just got reminded... for a 6 quart V8, the Avalanche has the *tiniest* filter on it. Most GM 4's and 6's take bigger filters. What's up with that?
