What size bolt from top to windsheild frame?

I can't find a bolt that fits in the spot in the widnshield frame that the top bolts too. 1/4" is way too small and 5/16" is a tad too big.
Help please.

Re: What size bolt from top to windsheild frame?

Is it a fine thread 5/16? I have never taken the hardware loose on mine, not sure. If no one responds by tomorrow I will be by my Blazer's hiding place and check it out.

Re: What size bolt from top to windsheild frame?

I tried coarse and fine. I even bought a size 8 Metric and that was too big. I have a feeling it is 5/16" but I don't want to force anything.

Re: What size bolt from top to windsheild frame?

I have a bag of bolts from when I took that last top off. Anyone have pics of the factory bolt? Even installed pics would help. I may be able to figure it out from there.

I was thinking that the head was one of the big philips heads. Doesn't matter, those are 5/16" too. Is that coarse thread?

Awe shucks buddy, thanks for all your efforts, is this the middle
brackets? or the outside one that go through the visors, just a
couple shoud do it I would think, it's heavy enough by itself

Drove mine three hours on the interstate at 75mph with no front hardware at all- only four in the rear sides- didn't fall off.

Re: What size bolt from top to windsheild frame?

I think mine were the big phillips head screws. They are 5/16x18 thread. I chased all of them with the tap before reassembling the windshield frame. The phillips are the only ones that will fit inside the holes. Come to think of it, there was one that was a little touchy coming out as well. Had to get a big a$$ screwdriver and some vice grips to get it out. Good luck, Jeff.
