I didn't really get much done this year:Lets see

I got a new 290 horse crate motor installed with a 700r4 behind it.
New shifter

Got hit by a Tercel on my way home from work one day,the truck is okay a little scuff.The tercel lost its bumper head lights and bumper support.

That is about it.Next year it is bags in the back.

Oh and I just picked up a 4.10 rear end today so out with the 3.42

I had a pretty good weekend even though I worked. I finally got my 06 Crewcab back from my painter. I had the lower valance, mirror's and rear bumper cap painted black to match the truck. We took all the trim off, and removed the pinstripes. While it was there we installed Escalade door handles and painted the tailgate handle too.

Saturday morning I got up early and waxed the crewcab. I took my 04 Dodge to drop the bed cover off so it can be shipped back to Snug Top to be repainted. I dropped by my local tire shop and sold them my factory Dodge wheels.

Saturday evening I took the 77 out to the local cruise spot. I spent the evening talking with buddies and checking out hot rods.

Sunday I got up early and waxed my 77. I took it to a Hooters car show, and won 1st in Class.

What did you get done?

Went to the state fair (against my will). Truckwise, I got the final 2 speakers installed, making the total finally come to 4

went and watched drag racing friday, worked saturday, church sunday

I'd definitely be interested in reading how you tackled this project. Here's my overhead console. I'm waiting until I finish some other projects that I have going with the truck before I start it. My plan is to put two fuel gauges (one for each tank, so I don't have to flip the switch to check if my other tank is full or empty) and maybe a vacuum gauge where the rear controls used to go. We'll see.

N2Trux - Congrats on your 1st in Class recognition. And, congrats to N2billet for his Goodguys showing last week.

I didn't do much other than take the truck out for a bit. Although, I do need to spend some maintenance time with it. I did pick up some linkage parts for it as well as some electronic parts for it. I spent most of the time working around the yard getting it ready for the cold weather. (I also picked a few more raspberries.) Since the weather was nice, I decided to get in another bike (cycle) ride up into the foothills. Last week, I tried to get 40 miles in and ended up blowing out my sidewall and then puncturing the tube on some road debris. So, I ended up getting 26 miles in with 3 of those miles toting the bike.

The bad thing is that I was not able to enjoy the downhills on the way back after making the climbs.

So, after changing out to better road tires and repairing the tube, I got the 40 mile ride in the following day (including the descends

). The ironic thing is I couldn't locate any hot patch refills to repair the tube. Everywhere I asked, I got blank stares. I guess vulcanize hot patches are a thing of the past. Anyway, I did get 38 miles in this time around without any problems. It might be the last long ride for the season.

Friday - Skipped my math class and went to work early, pulled a 10:30am - 9:30pm shift YEAH BUDDY.

Saturday - Pulled the dashbezel, dashpad, and the seat out of the brown truck, only interior left in it is the actual gaugecluster, the carpet and the headliner. Non truckwise, I went up to Nachitoches for the NSU game, we lost 20-30

Spent the night with my aunt and uncle on their land in BFE.

Sunday - Came home, comfortable 75 minute ride in Ol' Red with the windows down via the road less traveled, can't beat that.

I'm making it a habit to avoid the interstate lately.

Helped my son on the engine we pulled last week from his totaled out 80 that will go into the 78 k10. Removed the valve covers so we could install a chrome eldbrock intake, here's a couple of pics

half price day at the junkyard, i finally started to work out some major bugs on the old grey mare. duel core radiator, to replace my leaking single core. check valve fixed my flintstone style brakes. tie rod bushing took care of that awful racket. snagged an internal speedo gear, no more trans leak, or trying to blindly keep it at 30mph around the cops!! new linkage springs so i could tear off the olds linkage still on my edelbrock. brand new vacuum advance so i could finally, correctly, adjust my timing, WOW, guess i don't have a cam (god, the previous owner was dim)!! $42 and she runs smooth and fast, a week ago i was ready to trash her for parts!! next up, new tires (relize how bad i need them now that i got my torque back), plenum gasket (looking for that vacuum leak), replace leaking PS lines, install the column i got with the truck(my bearings are shot), rerun most of the feul lines, mine are a not so funny joke, and i might go pick up a set of bumpers i saw at the junk yard.

I worked late Friday night & then again until Sat afternoon.

I did manage to pick up all the required pieces to get my auto/tilt column connected to the steering box on my 68. I used 2 Borgeson u-joints & 3/4" 36-spline shaft for a straight shot from end to end & it just barely hits the upper a-arm @ 3~4" of bag height. I have to get the bags installed & see if I'm going to space them 1" or make a separate external bump-stop for OTR safety in the event of an air related failure.

Small progress, but progress non-the-less . . .....

I spent all day Saturday with my wife at The Day at the Drags, sponsored by the Kontinentals out of Austin. A whole day of drag racing limited to pre-1964 vehicles. The Kontinentals are into traditional hotrods, not the streerod/Boy Coddington/covered in billet look, so there was a lot of really cool stuff. There were a lot of really interesting cars racing, and running a lot of engines you don't often see. There were several hemis, flatheads, straight sixes, nailheads, and the more common engines.

It was held at Temple Academy Dragway, AKA Little River. It is an old track that is much different than what I am used to. The stands are covered in some areas, and the track is lined with a lot of old trees, so you actually get shade. The track is only about 6 or 8 feet from the stands, so you get a good close look at the cars, and it is LOUD! An excellent way to spend the day.
