Value of 67
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but I have a quick question on the value. It's a 1967 stepside, lowered, disk brakes, small block that is rebuilt, sliding glass rear window, wooden bed ( needs replaced ) R700 automatic , the truck used to be a standard , the drivers rocker panel is rusted, the rest looks pretty strait and okay. And it's 6 lug truck. Can someone ballpark the value of this truck for me? I want a nice "street truck" as a project to modify and I'm thinking this might be it, but wondering what this would be worth. I'm guessing around $2500, but just wanted to check with those that know based on the equipment it has. It's primered as well. Also, what is it going to take to convert to 5 lugs? this is a very good question one that I have been asking myself now for about 10 years , these truck's are more complicated than people think , you can buy these truck's all day long for $1000 each , but now if you want a good truck thats another matter , seams that long wheel base ones are growing out of the ground , finding one with a good cab is like trying to find yellow breasted red tail hawk's teeth , I paid $4k for my 67 short fleetside it needs work but it has a beauty of a cab rust free bed sides it's short bed mostly original unbothered ole truck , could I have found a project truck cheaper ? yes but I have already had them $1000 basket case's and ones that are for sale in the paper with the (ITS GREAT SHAPE) headline , it just got old so I paid a little more and got the truck I wanted ,, in my opinion right now a good 67 running project would be from $3k to $5k thats short fleetside or stepside 2wd 1/2 ton c/10 ,,,,, now if you wanted a long bed you could find one way cheaper ,
a guy down the road from me bought a 68 the other day and drove it home for $400 buck's ,,,, am I jealus ?? uhh that would be no I'm not , my advise to anyone buying one of these truck's is pay no attention whatsoever to what it looks like on top CLIMB UNDER IT !!!! |

Supposing there are no major leaks and all mechanics work, $2,500 would simply be too good to be true. 1967 is considered by most to be the best looking year of this generation. The grill design is mean and clean and it was the last year of the small rear window. There are also no sidemarkers. You said the truck has a small block with a 700R4. I have gone through theprocess ofputting in a 700R4 andlet me tell you it is not the same as a TH350! It's just about the most sought after automatic as it has a lower first gear AND overdrive. There may be others but a 700 is really awesome! It's lowered and has disc brakes. If this hasbeen done then I have to assume that the PO added power steering and anti sway bars (which were uncommon the 67 and 68). Basically, you also have one heck of a suspension to go with the REBUILT motor and 700R4 tranny. I would expect a higher price, unless the appearance is less impressive. Either way, half of your work is already done on that truck.

If you want a keeper go for the most perfect sheet metal you can find. The mechanical is relativly easy compared to body work.
Being where you are I would look a little further........... I have made three trips to Arizona last year picking up rust free sheet metal. |

i paid 2500 for a hell of a nice truck, minor rust on cab floor and door bottoms, but has been a strong truck, i would think if its in decent running condition and its not rusted out it sounds like a fair price!

If it is in primer who know's what body work was done and what is now hidden under bondo and what not. I look under and inside and see what damage could be hiding. Also just because it was lowered doesn't mean he did it the right way. If he just cut the front springs that shouldn't add to the price IMO. Another I noticed is that you said it has discs and was a 6 lug is this possible I thought that disc brakes were either 5 or 8 lugs.

Disc brakes are available in six lug... I think they're aftermarket. In case you want to keep your old wheels I s'pose.
