255/55/17 rims and wheels

Does anyone have a picture of a 255/55/17 wheel combo? This combo may end up on my 4 doory Jimmy.

G-
Here's a couple of pics of a former forum member's 75 Chevy. It's riding on 255/55/17s.

Re: 255/55/17 rims and wheels

Hey THANKS!!
Darn they look too big to fit my 4 door Jimmy. I want a 28" tire wheel combo. Looks like I might have to search for a 16" wheel with a 27-28" total diameter.
However, the 255/55 would like some nice meat in the rear. I can always use a smaller tire on the front.

255/55/17 shows to be 28.04 inches tall. A 255/50/70 is around 27 inches tall.

Re: 255/55/17 rims and wheels

Yup, the 255/50 is equal to the stock 205/75/15 wheel - 27". The 3.42 gear in the Jimmy should easily turn a 255/55/17 tire. The larger size will put my cruise RPM right near my target of 2000-2100 RPMs. The larger wheel also limits the amount I can lower it too. I want to tuck the wheels nice into the wells. I need to make my decision in two weeks. Da Jimmy needs some wheels badly.

Re: 255/55/17 rims and wheels

Boatpuller, what size rims do you have? They look sweet! I'm guessing 17x8, but are the fronts and rears the same size and offset?

I agree. Tuck some wheel, stagger them and maintain a slight rake for that sleek, hot rod look.

BTW, you truck is looking as sharp as ever.

Re: 255/55/17 rims and wheels

This is a picture of a Jimmy with 255/60/117 - 28" tall. The other picture is a 255/55/17 tucked nicely in a lowered S10 truck.
So should I mount the 255/55' or 255/50's?

Re: 255/55/17 rims and wheels

I'm not quite following the wheel sizes listed your last post, but IMO since you're planning on lowering the Blazer, I would think a 255/50 would fit and look better. The 255/55 may be a bit overpowering for that size of a vehicle, unless it has a 4by stance.
