I am wondering what is the best way to ship large items such as SWB bedsides. Like which companies and how to package them? Also what would it cost roughly?

67chevy2wd, if they are original gm bedsides, I would crate them up personally. If you pack them in card board there is no real guarantee they will arive in good shape but if you crate them up if the shipping company does mess them up they pretty much had to run them over with a mack truck. qksilver on seats I would probably due haow most places ship furniture Make a small wooden frame, atach the seats to thhe frame and staple card board on top of the frame for best possible protection. As for price I would just guess at it from what the vendors charge and say start at 100 dollars and go from there.

Like Aarons72 said crate them up nice, give Greyhound a call. I have shipped front and rear step fenders this way. Alot cheaper the others

What kind of crate are we talking here. Seeings how I am not the one doing the shipping I hate to ask too much of someone to ship them.

You have seen the plywood crates that they use to ship like car bodies and frames on tv shows or old movies. You could do 2 bed sides to one crate but I am not sure how heavy it would be. It would save money on shipping materials.

Probably the same type of thing we gets large parts in at work. It is like a plywood box.

WARNING ABOUT GREYHOUND

Yes they are cheaper and I have had good luck with them..........but do this..if you take your items to get a shipping quote GET IT IN WRITING. Every time I have used them the actual shipping charge was MUCH more than the quoted price.

YEP... I AGREE THAT GREYHOUND IS THE CHEAPEST & I'VE USED THEM QUITE OFTEN IN THE PAST WITH GREAT RESULTS BUT.... YOU HAVE TO PACK IT PRETTY MUCH IDIOT-PROOF. REMEMBER... YOUR NOT DEALING WITH MENTAL GIANTS HERE, & SHIPPING CARGO IS NOT THEIR NO. 1 PRIORITY.

I have shipped many sets of bucket seats with Greyhound but they are pretty easy to ship as they will be in rough shape to begin with. Doubleing up on SWB bedsides may make it real tough as I can just about barely handle one and I am a lot bigger then most Greyhound drivers. Might try looking for a board member coming your way~~`.

I am wandering 67chevy2wd, You live in north dakota, where are the bedsides at. Me personally I would drive down and pick them up. Plus if once you get down there if they arent what you thought dont buy them. Plus if they get messed up on the way back you can only blame yourself, but considering there yours they will probably have alot better chance of getting them back in one peace instead of shipping. I have seen what vendors charge for shipping and I figured for about the same money and may be a little more I can go pick it up with less chance of damage, plus get a road trip out of it.

the bedsides are in OH. No way I can drive that far. I think I will end up waiting and buying them new from a vendor.
