Bumper Bracket install - SWB K-10 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK, I finally have enough sets of bumper brackets to figure this out, I think. Here are some pics of my sport bumper install on my SWB K-10. I first started with the 4WD SWB fleetside brackets that carandtruckshop sent me. I couldn't get them to work. They then sent me the 2WD setup, I think it works better. Take a look and tell me if this will work. It looks like the proper location but without a bed mounted can anyone confirm this?

Now here is the 4WD bracket on top of the 2WD bracket. If I use the 4WD bracket (top) I don't see a rear mounting hole in my frame..

And here is the leaf spring shackle mount rivet head that slightly interfere's with the 2WD mount, but it only pushes the mount inward about an 1/8th". Should
nt hurt as far as I can see? Big question is what are the holes in the mount closer to the bumper for (not the gravel shield one's)???

Here is a pic of the two different inner brackets from truck and car shop. Noah was nice enough to send me another set since my first set was incomplete. I am actually going with the 2WD brackets on my 4WD SWB because it seems to fit better. I don't see how the 4WD bracket would have worked with the holes that they had, nothing lined up on my frame.

Note: These are in the wrong order, left brackets are on the right and right brackets are on the left. sorry for confusion.....

Heres what it should look like on a 2wd (which is what I think you are showing). Don't know squat about 4x4s though.

The 4x4 brackets have the little dip in them to clear that rivet. Try lining up that dip with the rivet and see if any of your other holes line up.

The far hole (forward) on the 4WD is to far to use the same hole as the 2WD set. If you did drill a new hole then it lines up with the backside of the leaf sring mount, which can't work. My one concern was the brackets don't come straight back but angle downward, which is what your looks like. thanks

something is wrong here. The leaf spring shackle on my 72 SWB K10 has all 4 rivits forward of the frame cross brace. It looks like yours strattles the cross brace. Did someone have mount longer leafs on your vehicle?

BTW, the 4WD brackets look identical to mine and should work if the shackle is located in the original position.

Mine is a 68, I believe that they have longer rear leafs than newer models. I am 99.9% sure that it's original location.

This might be the reason that mine doesn't fit then. I will let them know when I ship the 4WD set back.

Let us know if the 68 leafs are longer. The 6" lift springs on my truck suck. There are a couple of manufacturers that make a 4" drop bracket that reduces the arch of the spring, Add that to a longer spring and it should ride sweat.

I am pretty sure they are, that's why I cant get rear leafs for lift, only blocks.
LMC show two different leaf springs as well.

Rear Leaf measurement
69-72 = 52" :many years up too I think.
67-68 = 56" eye to eye, just measured it.
