Pics would help. What is the diamater of your old one? They came in 6" and 8" diamaters. Wide balancers are 350 and thin balancers are 305.

Aaron

Can you give me some dimensions - or pictures?
Actaully the 6" "Wide" balancer is for a 305 - and the timing mark may or may not be in the correct position.
the 6" "Skinny" balancer is for a 350
the 8" balancer is for a 350
the 8" with a big notch cut out of it is for a 400

The 305 and 350 dampers are interchangeable. After all it's the same crank.

not technically - they are both internally balanced, so yes they are interchangable - BUT if you get one that has the timing tab on the tining cover @ the top behind the waterpump - you CANT put it on a timing cover with the "side timing tab"

and technically a 305 crank is 3.45" Stroke and a 350 Crank is 3.48" Stroke

Re: identifying sbc harmonic balancer?

Never heard of 3.45 stroke. Only 3.48, and I've personally pulled 2442 casting # cranks out of 305's and 350's. Same casting # means same crank. And if the balancer is clocked different just use the corresponding timing cover.
