Worth the trip??
I thinking of buying some new sheetmetal for my truck due to some "hidden" damage. Ive never had anything as big as a door, fender or hood shipped to me but I would think the shipping would be HUGE. My question is what kind of discount over catalog prices (if any) have you gotten from vendors at shows? I have a chance to go the Moultrie GA swap meet next month for about $150 out of pocket and im wondering if I should wait until then to get my goods?
FYI Im thinking of buying 2 doors, 2 fenders, cowl, and perhaps a hood.

can't never go wrong going to a swapmeet// my theory is if its within a thousand miles you can do it on a weekend it's worth the money just to be somewhere different

Re: Worth the trip??
if you go the shipping route remember the bigger the order is the cheaper the frieght will be. i put a large order in with GMC Pauls and asked them to price it with and without hood (over 2000.00) i would only have saved 45.00 total by dropping the hood.

Re: Worth the trip??
Have you ever had sheetmetal shipped? No matter how good they pack it, there is a possibility that it will get dented. If you pick it up yourself you can make sure it comes home in good condition.
Besides, you never know what else you might run across that you need...

There will be quite a few truck vendors there and I think it will be worth your wait.

I really wanted to come over but that was my son's 1st birthday. Hopefully I can get what I need at Moultrie. Wish I knew who was going.

Re: Worth the trip??
Go to the swap meet first, might get lucky and find good clean used metal plus at most swap meets when you have cash you can get some smokin deals. If you have to go to a vendor I would go and pick it up myself , that way you can inspect it for damage and plus if you take it with you it is alot less likely to get damaged.

Re: Worth the trip??
prices from the vendors seem to be 10-15% cheaper, no tax, no shipping and then there is the option of finding it used. go for the swap...

Re: Worth the trip??
Tim will also be at the moultrie meet. I have several times drivien to TN for parts from Tim or other shows from other vendors. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
