Rebuilding a 1974 GMC Jimmy
I am new to this site, I am currently performing a ground up restoration on my 1974 Jimmy, 454, .60 over, Keith Black pistons, eagle forged crank, 1967 427 Corvette heads ported and polished, eddlebrock air gap intake and water pump. Recently had a Dana 60 rebuilt stuffed with 4.56 gears locker to come. Corprate 14 bolt with 4.56 and deroit locker with disc brakes. Off road design supplyed cross over steering, shackle flip with heavy duty shakes front and rear, greasable rubbers, heavy duty engine cross member, competition motor mounts. Sky jacker 8 inch springs in the front 6 inch in rear with 1/2 lift from the shackles and 1 1/2 with the shackle flip from off road! Presently Welding in new inner and outer rockers and floor pan.
A lot of work to say the least. My wallet is almost empty, I said almost!!! Plan on running a new fuel tank, any ideas on a good size (thirsty motor) that will work well to replace the old steel tank? (2 weeks off) Just finished 3rd coat of Amerlock 2 part high solids paint on the frame and axles, followed by the install of the motor, tranny (turbo 400) and transfer case (Np205). Next step is to bring the frame to the shop and have custom drive shafts installed. Should be a runner when she is finished, sooner than later I hope Nice to be a part of your organization!!!! |

Re: Rebuilding a 1974 GMC Jimmy
I was at the wreckers in Stettler about 6 months ago and they had a 74-75blazer or jimmy with a usable hardtop and a factory roll bar if that helps. I still have the phone number somewhere but it may take some digging if you need it.
