lift kit ques

I am looking for a work truck and have noticed a lot of nice chevys with lift kits on them (4x4's). The only problem, I don't want to be getting in/out climb in bed, etc of a truck with a 6 in lift. Can these tings be removed easily? I don't mind a small one, it just seems like they all are 6 in lifts.

Thanks
Jeremy

Re: lift kit ques

There are companies that make smaller lifts. I have a 4 inch lift in my 86 4x4. The company I got it from sells a 2 inch also and a 6 inch.

Once you put them in, it's alot easier to go back to stock then going from stock to lifted. i didn't have to cut anything.

All i have to do is change the front leaf springs, remove the rear blocks, and change steering arms(hardest part of the whole thing). Then remove my sway bar drop bracket, then everything just bolts back up in place.

^ Yeah, pretty much what he said. It is definantly alot easier to take 1 off then it is too put 1 back on. As long as nothing was cut off.

Re: lift kit ques

do you guys have the old parts laying around? Just thinking if I buy one without the stock parts, how difficult is it going to be to get the stock parts?

Re: lift kit ques

My old man kept his front springs, u bolts and steering arm. Basically everything we took off besides shocks, they were shot so we ditched em. Just leave the lift kit shocks on if we put it back down stock.

Re: lift kit ques

If you were very very lucky maybe you could find someone that would trade you the kit for a stock setup. Lots of parts out there or pick up an LMC catalog or other website and buy new. You should be able to find something that you like without having to tear one apart though. It's always worth driving a few hundred miles too!!! I'm from Indiana too!!! PA now though

Re: lift kit ques

like I said just shopping for now. I am willing and have driven a few hundred miles for a truck. I was just wondering so as not to limit my options. It is getting hard to find a non cancer truck around here anymore

Re: lift kit ques

Agreed, you should be able to find the parts in a junkyard or online to convert to stock.
