Look what my dad bought.
83 GMC Sierra Classic, 305/700R4(rebuilt tranny), new BFG T/A Radials, pw, pl. It's a very well taken care of truck. My dad was a deacon with the PO at our old church. He got it for $3500. He's letting my 17 yr. old brother drive it. He's been wanting a truck since I got my 86. He's even more excited it's a GMC. He keeps running around telling everyone we're the GMC brothers. Since these pics, we've painted the wheels silver and removed all the old man stuff, splash guards, fog lights, window stickers, and front liscense plate.
BTW those are original wheels, not aftermarket wagon wheels. First time I've ever seen em.

Re: Look what my dad bought.
Great find. But you just cleared up a long standing mystery for me. I have a set of those wheels complete with trim rings and centers. I have 5 so I have the matching spare. I've had them for 15 to 20 years. A guy came in and I did some work for him and took the wheels as part payment. He said he didn't know what they came on. I ran them for years without the centers or rings like they were wagon wheels. I gave them to a close friend to go on a old 76 chevy he was trying to get going. He had an engine fire and I bought the old truck back. I'll try to find and post a picture.

Re: Look what my dad bought.
Here is his driver and my mom's driver. The truck has a set of 17x9.5 six spoke TT II's like Tim Christians 67 has on it. I'll try to get some pics of it with the wheels also.

Man, I haven't seen any of those wheels in a long time. Hey ElGracho, where did you find that picture at? My uncle had one of those! 454 and all! Any more info on production numbers and stuff?

Re: Look what my dad bought.
It's been sitting about a year. It is in the plans to be took apart this winter. It has new brakes all around and just had the seat rebuilt with new foam, I bought it for parts only.

Re: Look what my dad bought.
Not trying to be rude but I have had a couple of 17 year olds driving some nice vehicles and they weren't nice for very long. Have Dad buy him a junker to drive for a couple of years and see how he takes care of it then let him have it to drive.

Re: Look what my dad bought.
I guess its true what they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
Nice and clean. On those wheels, I went with me GF's dad over to a street rodder buddy of his last winter. In the back of his shop he had a set of those wheels but in 6-lug. I said something about them to him and he asked if I wanted to buy them. I didn't but jokingly said I wouldn't mind having the center caps off them, they are the same as the rally wheels. He said how about $10 so I got a decent set of centers for $10! My dad was talking about wanting to buy an El Camino for a dump runner, around the house truck a while back. I had the chance to buy a pretty clean '87 2wd long bed at the time. It needed paint and a little clean-up on the interior. I didn't have the money to buy so I tried to talk him into buying it and I would have "advised" him on what needed to get fixed besides cosmetics. He doesn't work on cars so all the work would have been professionally done aside from small things I could have done for him. He bought an S10 Blazer instead ?

Re: Look what my dad bought.
Nice truck and nice price. I guess those wheels were mainly used on GMC's, because I too have a set on my 84 with beauty rings. Again, both of you guys have nice trucks.
