Hey...

Has anyone ever tried eliminating their wind wings in the doors of 67-72 Chevy trucks?
When I redo mine, I was thinking about taking out the wind wings and making it so there is only one piece of glass going up and down.

If anyone has tried this...please let me know. If you have any pics of a truck with this done, please post them!

josh, don't just go on what i say but somebody made a post earlier this year saying that they did it and they look nice but that they've had nothing but problems with them but i don't know why they would have problems with em so tell me how it turns out

There is a company (sorry, can't remember which one, but you can probably find it on the 'net) that makes a kit to do exactly what you want to do. It has the necessary components to remove the vent window and install a new front track to allow for a full window. If I remember right, they have a power option, as well.

Buy the kit from Brother's, I think most of the vendors on this board sell them, WES, GMC Paul, ect. But don't try to cut corners and not buy a new regulator for each door. That is why EVERYBODY was having problems. Buy the parts they suggest and you will be fine.
I realize that regulator's are about $100 each and this would be a nice corner to cut, and save some $$$$$, but get real the regulator's in your door's are over 30yrs old.
Back to the lod saying DO IT RIGHT, DO IT ONCE!!

I think I'm going to try it. I'm buying a set of Goodmark doors though...I hate the thought of cutting on brand new doors.

Does anyone have any feed back on new Goodmark doors? I posted a thread on those on the parts board.

GMC Paul has regulators cheaper than that, or at least they were on sale when i got them. definately do new regulators, brother's updated their instructions on the one piece window kits. there are guys on here that have done the install successfully.
i wouldnt dream of using the regulators i have, one sounds like a jack in the box!!!

Took mine out myself, and had the metal cut and used the holes from the vent windows to put them in with and tacked welded the glass runner back in. Didn't do anything to the doors.

Talk to Paul or Wes and get the right components, everything is available to do the change, and you do not have to alter the door. Screw Brother's before they screw you, Paul and Wes can get you what you need much cheaper, and can definately offer you more assistance on installation. It is also a full glass replacement, not a painted blank stuck in where the vent was (sorry Andy), so they look good, and electric conversion is available from a couple sources. Someone should have links to help you out here (due to my puter crashing a couple weeks ago, I lost all the links I had to this subject). In the past, there have been numerous posts and pics covering this topic, so someone can help you out with info, good luck, LB.

Andy, Where did you get those mirrors? It looks like if they were slid forward they would fit at a perfect angle to the door...or did you cut the base to fit? Do you have another picture from a different angle? Thanks

If I could change everything on my truck to exactly what I wanted, the only thing I would never consider changing is the wind wings. I would pay an extra $2,000 for wind wings on a new vehicle if they were an option. To me removing the wind wings would be worse than swapping out your V8 for a tired old Volkswagon flat four. I strongly recommend you reconsider; maybe take a poll.

Don't do it! I did mine, and although it looks cool, I might go back to stock when I redo my truck next time with new doors. The regulators is one issue, but they still aren't nearly as smooth as factory. Just my 2 cents.

Andy, it looks like you put some hard work into those... but can you see? It looks like you've created quite a large blind spot in your field of vision. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't pass inspection around here.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
