1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

When I bought My longhorn 10 months ago the truck had newer style 1 piece rims with newer style hubcaps as shown in Pic#1. But to my surpise when I got home the original split rims and hubcaps where in the box!!!(Pic#2)
I would really like to run the original caps but not the split rims. I have read that they are unsafe and alot of tire shops will not work on them. I was wondering though if these caps would fit on c20 rims and if the c20 rim was a one piece rim or not?
I have not seen these particular hubcaps before? Are they the righ ones for my truck. I believe them to be. I have seen a similar version that is chrome? Any help would be appreciated

those are from a 67/68... I don't know the colors as to which is for which year... but that is the old style. They won't work on your good wheels, but, the correct 16.5 hubcaps will work on your 16 inch rims though.

Here is the correct cap.
It came as shown as an option, the base model had white painted steel with the blue bow tie and black accents.

Re: 1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

I thought for sure that these where the orignal set of wheels!!!!!!
The newer set(pic1) is still a 16.5 rim. Was there a one piece 16" wheel that these original caps (pic2) would fit on? Well I might not want to use these, if they were not original! It surprises me that they are not because the truck was so complete when I got it.

Re: 1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

Those caps in the second pic will only fit the 16 inch split rim, or the 16.5 rims from 1968 or older.
The wheels in the first pic may well be original.

Yes it is, or the steel painted white version.

Re: 1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

So, was there a split rim option on the '69 c-30
My glove box sticker reads
"Q23 17 x 6.00 KELSEY 8 STUD"
"RP3 800 X 16.5-8PR TIRES-16"

So, to the point, Do you believe that the 16.5 one piece rims that are on the truck are the right wheels for my truck just the wrong caps? and that the rims and caps that were in the box (pic2) have no link to my truck?

Quote:
"Q23 17 x 6.00 KELSEY 8 STUD"

"RP3 800 X 16.5-8PR TIRES-16"

That makes absolutly no sence at all... onless it came with big-n-little wheels from the factory.
17X6 kelsey... that would be 17 inch wheels.... and I do believe the kelseys were splits.

BUT...
then it lists "RP3 800 X 16.5-8PR TIRES-16" ... which is the tire size... and to add to the confusion... it says 16.5... but then... 16. WTF???? (also, that 800 is probably 8.00)
The 16.5 would be a one piece rim... the 16 (of that ara) is split.

Those other wheels have nothing to do with your truck. They were probably left over from a truck he had before, or he had them with snow tires mounted for the off season... back in the day that was very common to have an extra set of wheels with snow or studded tires... no such thing as all weather tires back then.

Re: 1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

That makes alot of sense , thanks Longhorn Man
Here is a pic of my glovebox sticker showing the rims and tires.
The original owner took great care of this truck and that makes sense that he would have had a set of winter rins and tires.
That is good news that the rims that are currently on the truck (pic1) one piece 16.5" are the original rims with the wrong caps! correct?

Re: 1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

Way it is printed makes me think that when the truck was ordered the guy ordered studed tires and wheels for winter and regular tires and wheels for summer. Like everone says back then it was common to have 2 sets. This way the guy would not have to find aftermarket and knew they would fit!

Re: 1969 c30 Hubcaps & Rims

I can't figure why there is a listing for optional big wheels...which was not even an option on single wheel trucks.. and then, on the same paper, have an option for the 8.00X16.5's. makes no sence.

Hmmmm....133-in. wheelbase! Is it a Longhorn or just a long (9') narrow box?

Oh...never mind...just reread your original post...LOL!
