Painted OEM textured wheel flares
I used Levine's paint and they turned out very nice. Color is Graystone.

Re: Painted OEM textured wheel flares
Those look good. Did you know you can order them already painted in certain colors?

Re: Painted OEM textured wheel flares
Cheapest probably is ordering them with the truck. Any idea on cost for a full set painted?

Re: Painted OEM textured wheel flares
I don't understand that. Is that paint really expensive???
I would like to paint the unpainted parts of my bumpers and grill black to match the truck. Did you need to use a pre-paint prep chemical(?) of some sort or just shoot it out of the can? The dealer said they would cut me a deal when I bought it to shoot them in the body shop but the "deal" was still $300-400. Funny that your parts were molded in black but mine are almost the same color as your truck?

Re: Painted OEM textured wheel flares
I got 2 cans of body color one coat from Levine's for $40 -- I only used one can for all 4. I cleaned them thoroughly, then shot with my favorite plastic paint --- Duplicolor Ceramic 500 dgree paint ----- I used low gloss black on these. The ceramic stuff has worked very well for me on near any plastic including my 67 dash gauge bezel -- I like the aluminum cast also in same paint. Then I top coated a week later with the Levine acrylic one coat Graystone.
As far as the plastic--- my friends red truck has no color reasoning so we figure whatever is next out of the box on the assembly line-- gray or black. Last edited by dennislbrooks; 10-19-2006 at 01:48 PM. |
